Weekend-focused (Friday-Sunday, closing shifts required; additional shifts TBD)
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour DOE + Tips ($4-$8/hr average) Surf City Original is seeking a highly dependable and operations-focused Weekend Floor Manager to oversee dispensary performance during peak business hours. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless daily operations, strong team execution, and an exceptional customer experience. As the Weekend Floor Manager, you are the acting leader on the floor —the go-to person for staff support, customer escalations, operational troubleshooting, and compliance oversight. You will serve as the bridge between budtenders and upper management , ensuring that systems, processes, and people are all functioning at a high level. This role is ideal for someone who has grown through a budtending position and is ready to take the next step into leadership with a strong focus on operations, accountability, and team performance .
Responsibilities:
Floor Leadership & Store Operations Act as the primary decision-maker on the sales floor during weekend shifts Oversee all real-time store operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and organization Execute and enforce all store policies, procedures, and operational standards Lead opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, register reconciliation, and store readiness Monitor workflow and staffing levels, adjusting in real-time to meet business demand Ensure all areas of the store (sales floor, back stock, registers) are running smoothly Team Oversight & Accountability Supervise budtenders and retail staff, ensuring strong performance and professionalism Delegate tasks effectively and hold team members accountable for execution Provide in-the-moment coaching, support, and direction during shiftsStep in as needed to support sales, manage flow, or de-escalate situations Help maintain a positive, team-oriented, and high-performance work environment Assist in training and mentoring newer staff members Customer Experience & Escalations Act as the point of contact for customer issues, escalations, and complex situations Ensure a consistent, high-quality, and welcoming guest experience Support staff in delivering personalized product recommendations and excellent service Resolve customer concerns professionally, maintaining brand integrity Inventory Management & Product Flow Oversee sales floor inventory levels and product availability Coordinate restocking and ensure accurate product placement and organization Assist with inventory counts, discrepancies, and communication with inventory teams Ensure proper handling of returns, defective products, and compliance-related removals Systems, Cash Handling & Compliance Oversee POS systems, registers, and payment processing tools Troubleshoot issues related to transactions, cash handling, or system functionality Ensure accurate cash counts at shift start and close; investigate discrepancies Maintain strict adherence to California cannabis regulations , including ID verification and transaction compliance Ensure all reporting, logs, and required documentation are completed accurately Communication & Reporting Provide detailed shift reports to management, including: Sales performance Operational issues Customer feedback Staff performance notes Communicate proactively about inventory needs, system issues, or staffing concerns Act as the eyes and ears of the store , identifying opportunities for improvement Sales Practices & Product Knowledge Lead by example in delivering a strong, sales-focused customer experience , balancing service with effective upselling and basket-building techniques Identify and reinforce key sales behaviors and best practices across the team to consistently meet and exceed revenue goals Coach and mentor budtenders in real time, helping them refine their approach to customer engagement, product recommendations, and closing sales Monitor team performance on the floor and provide actionable feedback to improve individual and team sales outcomes Maintain a deep and current understanding of cannabis products , including flower, concentrates, edibles, vapes, and emerging categories Confidently educate customers on product types, effects, potency, and usage to support informed purchasing decisions Support ongoing staff education by sharing product knowledge, new releases, and key selling points during shifts Collaborate with management to execute sales initiatives, promotions, and product pushes , ensuring team alignment and strong in-store execution Requirements 3+ years of cannabis retail experience required Prior budtending experience requiredPrevious leadership, keyholder, or supervisory experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of dispensary operations, compliance, and POS systems Working knowledge of cannabis retail tech stack including Treez (POS) , METRC , Slack , and Google Workspace strongly preferred Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced retail environment Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Ability to multitask and make decisions under pressure Must be 21+ years of age Must pass background check Guard Card required (or willingness to obtain; employer-supported) Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs Ability to bend, crouch, and reach for products in various storage areas Ideal Candidate Has worked their way up from budtender to leader Naturally takes ownership of problems and solves them proactively Is equally comfortable running operations and supporting customers Can balance team leadership with task execution Thrives in busy, high-volume retail environments Is looking for growth into a larger management role Growth Opportunity This role has the potential to grow into a full-time Assistant Manager position for the right candidate.
