An Assistant Retail Store Manager provides support to the Manager of a retail store, either an independent business or a store that is part of a large retail chain. May have primary responsibility for hiring and training retail sales staff. Reviews and monitors merchandise sales, inventory and prices, and directs advertising and promotions. Supervises sales, warehouse, cleaning, maintenance and security staff and prepares work schedules. Responsible for resolving customer complaints.

The Assistant Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting all aspects of store operations. This role oversees the day-to-day activities of retail associates, helps maintain operational excellence, and supports the achievement of business goals. The Assistant Manager serves as a knowledgeable brand ambassador, fosters a positive team culture, and exercises sound decision-making to ensure an outstanding guest experience. This position also assists with daily operational responsibilities as needed.

Lead and support a team of 2 to 10 employees. Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to team members. Develop, implement, and track employee training plans. Ensure the department is adequately staffed and stocked with necessary supplies and resources. Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices. Manage inventory levels for retail and rental products. Communicate operational updates, opportunities, and concerns to Store and Regional Managers. Assist with managing operational budgets and payroll processes. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, products, and services, and demonstrate expertise to guests and team members. Complete administrative and reporting responsibilities accurately and on time. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Minimum of 2 years of retail, rental, or related customer service experience. Demonstrated passion for employee development, coaching, and team success. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and guest experiences. Experience with retail or rental point-of-sale (POS) systems preferred. The expected pay range is $25.00 /hr. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
