Utilize proficient knowledge and experience of software for the purpose of CNC milling and turning to produce high tolerance mold and tooling assemblies. Oversees all aspects of production tooling preparation and fabrication. Essential Job Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Supervisory Responsibilities Directs the Mold Shop machinists when necessary. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, monitoring, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures. Supervise and provide guidance to ensure all tasks, projects and deadlines are met. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow by issuing written and oral instructions to staff. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff. Operations Liaison between Tooling Design/Programming, Mold Shop and Production. Coordinates tooling design completion and Mold Shop efforts. Coordinates with RD&E for tooling for fabrication. Facilitates resolution of tooling design issues as it relates to tool fabrication or production processes. Formulates Mold Shop schedule, sets priorities and conveys delivery dates to the Sales and Production Planning Departments. Establishes production tooling costs and budgets. Generates Capital Requisitions for tooling projects. Research new equipment and justify purchase. Champions departmental continuous improvement activities. Generates purchase requests for the ordering of raw materials, tools, supplies, etc. Monitors and coordinates preventative maintenance and repair of all Mold Shop equipment. Ensures company's compliance with appropriate governmental regulatory requirements and promotes affirmative action compliance. Identifies employee training needs and coordinates training. Root-cause analysis and improvement proposals Excellent English written and spoken Mechanical design experience (CAD) Project Management skills Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) Value Stream Mapping (VSM) SPC, DOE and process management experience Safety Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements. Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. Attend scheduled EHS trainings. Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment. Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensures that all fall protection procedures are strictly adhered to including but not limited to the use of harness, platform ladders, railing, lifts Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement and discipline related to Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures. Product Safety and Quality Follows Product Safety and Quality standards. Follows GMP's in regard to food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee. Follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all SQF requirements. Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.) Minimum 5 years of tooling/mold design experience in a manufacturing environment serving in progressive roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, business, or a technical degree in a related field. Ability to read blueprints and bill of materials. Use of mechanics hand tools, micrometers, calipers and dial indicators CMM and Solid Model Machining. CAD/CAM Integration. Must be able to communicate on a one-on-one basis or in group situations, understand instructions and follow SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures). Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, trigonometry and algebra. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems and working in a safe and timely manner.
