ASSISTANT
SITE MANAGER REPORTS TO
MARION
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS DESIGNATED SCHOOL ASSIGNMENT POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the care and well-being of children participating in the Marion Afterschool Programs (MAP). Duties include record keeping, light housekeeping, planning, and leading group activities for groups of up to 25 school aged children. Specialized duties include assisting the Site Manager with bookkeeping, bank deposits, data entry, and other duties as assigned. This is a part-time position with a split shift. Work hours may vary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manifest a professional code of ethics and values at all times.
  • Support activities designed to achieve priority goals identified through the Districts strategic plan.
  • Support the MAP objectives. Provide supervision, care, and protection for all children registered in MAP.
  • Plan and implement the after-school curriculum. Provide basic academic assistance as needed.
  • Maintain materials and equipment. Report all accidents and any significant problems or unusual behavior.
  • Attend staff meetings and/or staff development sessions as needed.
  • Notify Supervisor of schedule changes or absences at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Establish and maintain communication with the Site Manager and Activity Leaders.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of job site. Support the Site Manager with rescue medications.
  • Perform data entry and basic bookkeeping. Assist with financial paperwork.
  • Operate the site in the absence of the Site Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • M-Medium Work
  • Required to push, pull, or lift from 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • Balancing Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces. Bending Lowering the body forward from the waist.
  • Climbing Ascending or descending stairs, ramps, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Crawling Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  • Crouching Bending the body downward and forward by bending the leg and spine. Dexterity Utilize hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Grasping Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Hearing Acuity The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal volume levels.
  • Kneeling Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive Motion Substantial and continuous movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Sitting Resting with the body supported by the buttocks or thighs.
  • Standing Assuming an upright position on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.

  • Visual Acuity The power to see at a level that allows reading of numbers and text, operation of equipment, and inspection of machines, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Heat
  • The worker is subject to extreme heat.
Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Indoors/Outdoors The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. Noise The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma preferred.
  • Experience
  • Minimum one year of verifiable successful experience working with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience that is deemed equal or superior to the foregoing requirements.
  • Computer Skills
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position.
  • Certificates and/or Licenses
  • Certification or completion within 30 days: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Marion County Public Schools Health Clinic Assistant Certificate Department of Children and Families Childcare Facility Part 1 Certificate for School-Age Appropriate Practices Certificate for Special Needs Appropriate Practices
