Description:
Nordic Supervisor Boise, ID Description The Nordic & Race Supervisor is responsible for the execution of the Community Race Series at Bogus Basin and for assisting with the daily execution of the Nordic Center operations. Essential Functions of the Job Work and lead staff in a multi-week event. Train and schedule staff for coverage on all event nights and organize volunteers. Promote safety by following safe practices and reporting any unsafe conditions. Supervise and lead a Nordic Center staff under the guidance of the Nordic Operations Director Communicate with Food and Beverage staff to stock our concessions and supplies for daily operations Work with accounting staff to provide timely acct payable/invoices Oversee the preparation and tracking of rental equipment Instruct programs, group, and private lessons for students of any age or ability Attend all assigned meetings and training sessions Train staff as needed Maintain a professional, friendly, and helpful attitude while interacting with students, guests, and staff Check in retail orders, take retail inventory and work with staff to generate retail purchases Work the rental and sales counter when not teaching and complete other tasks assigned Answer phones, work the register and work with staff to clean the lodge area Follow up with staff to see that all paperwork is completed and schedules are communicated Non-Essential Functions of the Job Maintain a professional attitude toward guests and staff. Assist in mountain rescue efforts, if necessary. Perform other related duties as required. Train for self-improvement. (skiing skills and teaching skills) Assist in preparing lesson plans for upcoming lessons.
Requirements:
Requirements Passionate about Bogus Basin's Mission. Supervisory experience preferred PSIA Nordic Certification or US Ski and Snowboard (Nordic) coach license preferred Ability to work with people of all ages and abilities Must be able to ski comfortably and safely (classic or skate technique) on blue terrain at moderate speeds Strong written, verbal and computer skills Ability to make sound decisions during stressful situations Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds above shoulder level. Frequently required to stand, balance, walk, climb, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or controls. Position requires all movement and physical exertion commonly associated with skiing, snowshoeing or fat-biking Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must be 18 years of age. Ability to pass a background check. Working Conditions Split time between indoor and outdoor skiing operations, time and duration varies daily Employee may be subject to an extended period working outdoors ranging from four (4) to six (6) hours or more Position is regularly exposed to inclement weather Personal Appearance When in the public eye, your personal appearance is an important part of the product we offer our guests. You should come to work neatly groomed and in uniform. In addition to the uniform shirt you need the following: WINTER Black ski pants Gloves or mittens, durable and in good repair. Thermal wear, sufficient clothing for warmth. Appropriate equipment for Nordic skiing that is up-to-date, in good repair, and in safe working condition.
