Job Description

Meet Brookhaven At Brookhaven Market, we're more than just a chain of family-owned grocery stores; we're dedicated to crafting memorable customer experiences. Our mission is to bring the world's best foods to the communities we serve, ensuring every shopping trip is a journey of culinary delight. What You'll Do Brookhaven Market is looking for a full-time, onsite Assistant Store Director in Burr Ridge, IL to help keep the store humming, the team focused, and customers feeling taken care of. You'll work alongside the Store Director to keep operations sharp, standards consistent, and results moving in the right direction. In this role, you'll: Lead and motivate a diverse team while supporting department managers day to day Communicate clearly and build strong working relationships across the store Apply hands-on grocery operations know-how (inventory control, merchandising, and customer service) Review sales data and performance metrics, then use what you find to guide decisions and improve store performance Stay organized, manage time well, and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Handle tough customer service situations with professionalism and tact Follow safety, sanitation, and food-safety practices consistently Work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Walk/stand for the full shift and lift up to 50 lbs Bring a positive, proactive attitude and a real drive to exceed customer expectations—then hit apply. Shift Snapshot Start with a brisk walk-through: greet a few regulars, eyeball endcaps, and catch any "oops" spots before they become a thing. From there, your day bounces between the sales floor and quick huddles—touch base with department leaders, make sure fresh looks fresh, and keep the back room from turning into a treasure hunt. When the store gets busy, you're the calm in the checkout line—answer questions, adjust coverage, and keep service smooth. In the quieter pockets, you'll dig into sales and inventory numbers, spot patterns, and tee up smart moves for the next shift. Wrap up by checking standards, safety, and that the next crew inherits a store ready to win. The Good Stuff We keep benefits simple and practical: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, Paid Time Off to recharge, plus Employee Discounts for your next great grocery haul.
