This pivotal role requires a motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service. As the Assistant Manager, you will support daily operations, optimize sales performance, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Your leadership will inspire staff, streamline processes, and foster a welcoming shopping experience for our diverse clientele. Employee Responsibilities Lead store operations during assigned shifts and serve as manager on duty when the General Manager is unavailable. Close the store and complete all required closing, security, and alarm procedures. Provide employees with direction, monitor completion of assigned work, and assist with training, coaching, and onboarding. Immediately communicate employee performance concerns, attendance issues, policy violations, and other conduct concerns to the General Manager. Communicate significant customer, inventory, cash, safety, staffing, and operational concerns to the General Manager. Provide courteous customer service and assist customers with locating and selecting products. Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process cash, card, refund, discount, lottery, and other transactions. Count and reconcile cash drawers, investigate shortages or overages, and ensure cash variances remain within company guidelines. Complete daily lottery inventory, settlement, and cash reconciliation processes accurately and report discrepancies promptly. Verify customer identification, comply with all legal and company requirements for alcohol sales, and refuse prohibited transactions. Resolve routine customer complaints, pricing concerns, and service issues within established authority. Complete routine day-to-day product ordering as authorized and obtain General Manager approval before ordering new products, special purchases, or larger buys. Restock, face, price, and organize merchandise throughout the shift. Assist with deliveries, inventory counts, displays, product returns, and identifying low-stock, damaged, or missing products. Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and customer-ready sales floor, register area, cooler, stockroom, and restroom. Follow and enforce company procedures related to cash control, security, loss prevention, safety, timekeeping, workplace conduct, and perform opening, cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and other store duties as assigned. Required Education, Skills & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, management, or a related field preferred.
  • At least three years of retail experience; at least one year in a supervisory or management role preferred.
  • Experience with store operations, employee supervision, customer service, inventory control, merchandising, and cash handling.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use point-of-sale, inventory, email, and other basic business systems.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain accurate records, and manage competing priorities in a small-store environment.
  • Liquor, convenience-store, grocery, or other regulated retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be dependable and available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and additional hours when required. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Frequently stands, walks, bends, reaches, stoops, and moves throughout the sales floor, stockroom, cooler, and other store areas.
  • Regularly lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, and moves merchandise and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to safely use step stools or ladders and operate registers, computers, phones, keys, locks, and other store equipment.
  • Work is performed primarily indoors in a retail environment, with occasional exposure to coolers, varying temperatures, cleaning products, dust, noise, deliveries, and outdoor conditions.
  • May be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours based on business and staffing needs.

Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
