Job Description
Purpose:
The Team Leader - Paint provides day-to-day leadership and support for Paint Department operations while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and customer requirements are achieved. This position assists with coordinating production activities, training employees, monitoring quality standards, scheduling work assignments, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Team Leader serves as a key communication link between team members, supervisors, Sales, Shipping, Quality, Inventory Control, and the John Deere Coordinator to ensure customer expectations and production goals are met. This position supports all aspects of the Paint Department, including the Hang-On/Take-Off Area, Packing Area, Washer, Powder Paint Room, and Bumper Cell operations.
Work Schedule:
Hours:
Monday - Friday 6am-2:30 with daily OT requirements.
Weekends:
As needed for washer tank cleaning and maintenance as well as departmental weekend OT.
Weekly OT:
As business may need working until 4:30PM and altered schedules as needed.

Works overtime, weekends, and holidays as required to meet business needs. Reliable attendance. Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide team members. Essential Functions Required but not limited to: Leadership 1. Leads daily team meetings and communicates safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement objectives. 2. Assists with employee training, cross-training, onboarding, and development. 3. Supports and reinforces standard work practices throughout the department. 4. Delegates work assignments and balances manpower to achieve departmental goals. 5. Monitors employee performance and provides coaching to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and productivity expectations. 6. Maintains regular communication with the Department Supervisor regarding departmental performance, staffing needs, and operational concerns. 7. May serve as acting supervisor during supervisor absences. Production/Planning 1. Schedules and coordinates daily production activities based on inventory levels, customer demand, production capacity, and shipping requirements. 2. Prioritizes production orders to meet customer delivery commitments. 3. Coordinates with Production Control, and the John Deere Coordinator to support on-time customer shipments. 4. Orders cartons, packaging materials, and production supplies to support operations. 5. Coordinates staffing and workflow between Paint Department operations and Bumper Cell activities as production requirements change. 6. Orders materials and components from the warehouse as needed. Quality Assurance/Document Tracking 1. Monitors departmental quality performance and ensures compliance with work instructions, process sheets, and customer requirements. 2. Completes check sheets, inspection records, traceability documentation, and production paperwork for accuracy and completeness. 3. Tracks and maintains inspection data, quality records, production metrics, and logging them in the QC folder. 4. Identifies quality trends and supports corrective actions and continuous improvement activities. 5. Verifies parts, materials, and finished products using work instructions, blueprints, specifications, and approved quality standards. 6. Ensures proper identification, counts, and documentation of materials moving through the department. Paint Line Operations 1. Supports all Paint Department processes including Hang-On/Take-Off, Washer, Powder Paint Room, and Packing operations. 2. Coordinates machine setups and operational activities to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. 3. Assists operators in troubleshooting production, quality, and workflow issues. 4. Performs production duties and equipment operation as necessary to support departmental needs. 5. Ensures proper use and maintenance of tools, fixtures, and equipment. John Deere Packing 1. Supports Bumper Cell assembly, packaging, and shipping operations as needed. 2. Verifies cartons are assembled according to work instructions and customer requirements. 3. Ensures products are packaged correctly and all required components, hardware, labels, and documentation are included. 4. Monitors packing quality and verifies products meet customer specifications before shipment. 5. Reviews production counts and packing records for accuracy. 6. Assists with training employees on Bumper Cell processes and quality standards. 7. Ensures work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. 8. Coordinates Pangborn cleaning schedules and maintenance activities to support equipment performance and production readiness.

Physical Requirements:
Stands for long periods; frequently bends, lifts, or carries (up to 50 lbs.) Uses basic hand tools with dexterity. Has both near and distance visual acuity to inspect parts and operate machinery safely. Fork truck certification required.
Organizational skills:
Must be organized in keeping accurate data on check sheets, ability to 6s chemical check station, and have a high skill on cleanliness to ensure that all washer area and burn off stay clean of debris and other manufacturing build up Work Environment 1. Subject to hot temperatures. 2. May be subject to loud working environment. 3. Skin may be exposed to oils and/or coolant
