An Assistant Retail Store Manager provides support to the Manager of a retail store, either an independent business or a store that is part of a large retail chain. May have primary responsibility for hiring and training retail sales staff. Reviews and monitors merchandise sales, inventory and prices, and directs advertising and promotions. Supervises sales, warehouse, cleaning, maintenance and security staff and prepares work schedules. Responsible for resolving customer complaints.

Lead and supervise shift operations, ensuring all team members are engaged and performing at their bestManage employee scheduling, training, and development to build a motivated and capable teamInteract professionally with customers and employees, demonstrating empathy and a customer-focused approachHandle cash management, financial transactions, and money reconciliation with accuracy and transparencyAnswer phones, take orders, and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining operational efficiencyOversee store cleanliness, organization, and compliance with operational standardsMake decisive, analytical decisions to resolve conflicts and address operational challengesAssist in inventory management and stock organizationPerform physical tasks including lifting up to 25 pounds regularlySupport the Store Manager in achieving sales goals and performance metricsCommunicate clearly and transparently with team members and managementDemonstrate resilience and adaptability in a dynamic work environmentQualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management roleStrong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)Excellent math and problem-solving abilitiesDemonstrated customer service excellence and commitment to customer satisfactionAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectivelyStrong organizational and time management skillsProficiency in cash handling and basic financial managementFriendly, diligent, and responsible work ethic with a positive attitudeAbility to lift up to 25 pounds regularlyPhysical capability to stand for extended periods•
