Job Description

Working Shop Supervisor Primary Function(s) Direct shop employees and flow of processes to achieve highest productivity and quality in a safe manner, and to meet customer requirements and government regulations. Job Responsibilities Ship and receive rolls. Monitor employee output for productivity, quality and safety. Communicate with customers to schedule pickup and deliveries, as well as quality issues that arise. Coordinate the pickup and delivery of rolls that need outside processing. Minimum Requirements Previous supervisor experience desired. Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills required. Must be able to follow protocol. The position requires hands on supervision. Desirable Skills and/or Training Overhead Crane Training, Hazardous Communication, First Aid and CPR, Hazardous Waste Training, Statistical Process Control Schedule trucking. Communicate with mill employees for pickup and deliveries. Load and Unload rolls onto trucks: receive and ship rolls. Verify roll numbers on rolls with paperwork. Identify all rolls without a roll number with a green ID tags. Accurately enter rolls received into the computer system. Organize and maintain the work order folder system. Maintain the production board. Coordinate rolls going to and returning from outside processing. Prepare Bill of Lading and necessary shipping documents. Inspect any suspect rolls. Document non-conforming product, and cause of problem when known. Accurately report production and trucking activity for the shift. Maintain a polite and professional relationship with the customers. Train operators on safe operating procedures. May be required to evaluate training effectiveness. Communicate and enforce plant rules and regulations. Promote safety and good housekeeping. Report unsafe conditions Ensure that employees and visitors follow the company safety program. Initiate disciplinary action when necessary. Communicate accurate daily shift information to relief foreman, plant management, and customers as requested.
