To manage and operate a Goodwill Retail store while fulfilling Goodwill's mission statement.

VP of Operations/Sales, District Manager & Store Manager

Supervises workers in various personnel groups engaged in operating a retail store.

JOB COMPETENCIES
Serves as Hiring Manager in Manager's absence. Completes employee work schedules, evaluations, ADP and handles customer complaints. Per Manager, oversees store operation including inventory, warehouse and stock rotation. Per Manager, performs all administrative and clerical details associated with store operation and orders supplies as needed. Provides supervision for all sales associate, processor, door attendants and team leaders. Trains employees and follows cash handling procedures. As a member of the management staff, sets an example for his or her workers. Personal conduct must reflect the high standards of integrity expected of all Goodwill staff personnel. Is expected to exercise good judgement in handling the wide variety of day-to-day operational problems which arise continuously in store operation. Must be thoroughly familiar and continually stress the Goodwill sales philosophy. Performs those duties which are part of everyday supervisory job.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must complete employees work schedules. When manager is unavailable or as instructed by manager. They must complete employee evaluations as needed. They also counsel, terminate, fire, and train employees, when manager is unavailable. Responsible for maintaining ADP when manager is unavailable. Maintains store premises and grounds in a clean, neat condition. Schedules in case of manager's absence. Counsel/hire/fire etc. in managers' absence. Reports need for repairs and recommends replacements as necessary. Assures that the appearance of the store and premises is creditable at all times. Supervises the sales force and processing areas where applicable. Sells merchandise as time permits. Attends to and satisfies customer's needs. Handles customer complaints in a fair and impartial manner, coordinating as necessary. Promotes special events. Keeps new merchandise area stocked, inventoried, and marked. Must adhere to new goods procedures. Must keep new goods inventoried as needed by corporate office. Receives and checks incoming stock new goods and supervises checkouts and stock transfers. Checks condition and placement of stock in a clean, neat, and orderly condition. Rotates stock and marks down prices in accordance with store procedure. Suggests and maintains displays and advertising ideas and prepares and places signs in sales areas and windows. Performs administrative and clerical details of store operation: preparing stock requests, ordering forms, bags and other supplies, receiving, and disposing of mail, handling cash as directed by current procedures, etc. Greets customers. Maintain records of store operations as required. Reviews and analyzes sales to determine effectiveness of methods used and adequacy of prices. Make recommendations to Store Manager, Area Manager, and Vice President of Operations. Must be able to count all monies for store operations. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to make bank deposits with own transportation daily.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must work at least two nights per week. Must be able to work Saturday and Sunday. When working with monies, safe and monies must be locked up at all times. Support mission statement and activities of other departments. Represents Goodwill in the area served, striving to enhance the Goodwill image through individual and group participation. May supervise solicitors and pick-up orders, including routing as authorized. Safeguards the premises and material under his or her care at all times. Seeks to reduce the possibility of pilferage or burglary. Constantly watches for fire hazards and unsafe conditions. Responsible for safety and well-being for all employees. Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records. Adhere to all safety policies and reports violations. Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to person with disabilities and barriers to employment. Must approve all hours worked and enter vacation, sick leave etc. in a timely manner for the employees at my location. Driving to the bank to ensure secure delivery of bank deposits. Other duties as assigned.
STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE/QUALITY STANDARDS
Attendance and punctuality. The cleanliness, neatness, and orderliness of his/hers store premises. Quality and quantity of work performed. Attitude and overall effectiveness of working relations with all stakeholders. The manner in which duties and responsibilities, essential functions and job competencies are performed. Supports and values diversity. The effectiveness of his/her relations with the public and the manner in which he/she handles complaints by customers. The effectiveness of his/her merchandising methods and displays. The extent of his/her participation in community activities in the area served by his/her store. The manner in which he/she meets or exceeds sales goals and the extent to which he/she adheres to his/her budget program. The manner in which he/she manages the receipt, transfer, and shipment of material-to include coordination and cooperation. The manner in which he/she reflects the high standards of morals and integrity expected of all Goodwill staff personnel. His/her effectiveness in meeting deadlines and his/her response to special requirements and the expressed desire of management. The extent to which the store meets or exceeds accreditation standards as approved or endorsed by Goodwill Industries of America. The manner in which he/she performs the duties of a supervisor. Must meet store evaluation standards every day as set forth by Goodwill Industries.
RELATIONS WITH STORE PERSONNEL
Follows program plan in work assignments. Trains them in overall store operation. Represents management to them. Advises and counsels them as required. Is fair and impartial in his/her relations with them.
RELATIONS WITH STORE COSTUMERS
Is uniformly courteous to them. Listens to any complaints and attempts to adjust within policy to the satisfaction of the customer when merchandise is defective. Uses good judgment and does not hesitate to take responsibility. Stresses courtesy and enthusiasm to the public by all store workers.
RELATIONS WITH STORE MANAGER, DISTRICT MANAGER, & VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
Keeps him/her informed of significant events. Recommends changes in policies and procedures based on store operations. Is particularly sensitive to management requests and adheres to deadlines and due dates.
NOTE:
Must have a telephone and maintain it in operating order within telephone company's maintenance capabilities. Must pass/complete background check. Must be a licensed driver-must be insurable.
