Additionally, your enthusiasm and expertise will help us create and nurture a vibrant sales culture, enhancing our store's visual and merchandising standards, freight, and logistics activities, and prioritizing unparalleled client satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will help lead a customer-centric environment, engage with the local community, all while fostering a positive culture aligned with the Office Depot 5C values of Caring, Committed, Creative, Collaborative, & Courageous. The Retail Assistant Store Manager will be a "Key Carrier" and considered a leader on duty. All Retail Assistant Store Manager's must be able to work a flexible schedule that aligns with business needs, inclusive of the ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. In addition, Full-Time Assistant Manager positions must be able to perform External Key Carrier responsibilities which include but are not limited to opening and closing responsibilities. We believe that the Assistant Store Manager role is essential in driving our store's success through inspiring sales brilliance and exceptional service. The ideal Assistant Manager should be passionate about sales, delivering exceptional service, driving operational excellence, and developing a high-performing team. The essential functions of this position may require you to consent to periodic comprehensive background checks conducted by a third-party.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sales and Service Excellence:
Partner with the management team to drive memorable customer experiences and client satisfaction. Ensure the execution of Office Depot selling techniques and sales training across the store. Foster a sales-focused environment through assisting with the training and development of associates. Act as a role model for delivering exceptional customer service and product expertise.
Operational Efficiency:
Process merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures, deadlines, and visual merchandising standards. Identify areas for process improvement and implement plans to reduce waste and inefficiencies. Assist the General Manager in providing guidance and effective coaching to associates for improved performance. Contribute to increasing sales and profitability through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction improvement initiatives.
Leadership and Team Development:
Provide guidance, direction, and ongoing training to store associates, including Print Services associates. Facilitate training sessions on the business model and the holistic service offering for clients/customers. Observe, coach, and provide feedback to enhance associate proficiency and build a culture of trust and brand loyalty. Regularly exercises independent judgment when providing input to the General Manager on assessing store associates' performance, certification(s), and competencies. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary
External Key Carrier Responsibilities:
Maintain the safety and security of the building and associates during the absence of other managers. Perform opening and closing responsibilities, including activation and deactivation of the store's alarm system, cash handling, and daily store balancing. As a leader in the store, ensure regular loss prevention compliance. Fulfill responsibilities associated with External Key Carrier designation
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred in Business, Marketing, Retail, or related field preferred 1-3 years related experience; retail, sales, customer-facing, and/or supervisory experience preferred Basic computer skills; able to use job-related technology and systems Skills & Competencies Advanced selling skills and strong customer focus Proven leadership: able to lead, coach, motivate, and manage conflict Strong problem-solving, time management, and ability to plan, prioritize, and execute Excellent verbal and written communication; effective collaborator and team player Demonstrates business acumen, accountability, and drive for results; makes sound decisions Positive, engaging, action-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about our brand, products, services, and solutions
