Job Description

The ED Department Manager is responsible for providing clinical direction and leadership for the effective management of nursing practices within the Emergency Department. This role ensures that patient care is consistently delivered and that all quality standards are met through the coordination, supervision, and management of clinical services, staff education, and departmental evaluation. The Manager serves as a resource person for staff, manages budgets, and collaborates with physicians and hospital leadership to develop or revise policies and guidelines to advance nursing practice. Position Specifications 1.
Educational & Licensure Requirements Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is a plus.
Licensure:
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Louisiana.
Certifications:
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required within 3 months of start date. Specialty certification preferred (e.g., CEN). 2.
Experience Requirements ER Clinical Experience:
Minimum of three years of clinical experience specifically as an Emergency Room (ER) nurse.
Leadership Experience:
At least two years of previous nursing management or supervisory experience is preferred. 3.
Skills & Abilities Technical Proficiency:
Basic computer and Microsoft program knowledge; knowledge of Emergency Department services.
Interpersonal Skills:
Possess qualities such as kindness, empathy, integrity, and the ability to relate to people compassionately.
Critical Thinking:
Ability to determine appropriate courses of action in complex situations and work independently.
Initiative:
Self-motivated with attention to detail, creativity, and a positive attitude.
