Job Description

Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine/Grind Shop Manager to support supervision and daily management of our machining and grinding department in our Shrewsbury, MA facility. This is a full-time onsite position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This role requires deep knowledge of machining operations, CNC programming principles, tooling, and workflow optimization. Strong leadership, resource planning, and a solid understanding of manufacturing best practices in a technical environment are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee a team of machinists and precision grinders, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency. Plan and organize production schedules to meet customer demands, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Monitor production processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to maximize efficiency and reduce waste. Make daily decisions to support ongoing operations, production scheduling and planning. Manage releases of new jobs, directing resource allocation and daily work plans. Lead personnel hiring, development, retention, and training. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and product engineering to develop best practices, fixtures, tooling, and measurement tools and techniques. Ensure applicable product quality, ISO9001 policies, and workplace environmental, health and safety (EH&S) requirements are met. Maintain daily / weekly /monthly production reports for cost tracking, on-time delivery, cost per part, defects, and other KPIs. Collaborate with facilities manager on equipment acquisitions, maintenance, upgrades, and physical layout of work cells. Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and resolve conflicts or issues that arise among production personnel.
Qualifications:
15+ years of direct experience in a machine shop environment with demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities. Familiarity with ISO9001 and Lean Manufacturing practices. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise with Haas CNC machine tools and/or Studer CNC cylindrical grinders is a plus. Experience with the implementation and use of shop floor management software is a bonus, especially if with Fulcrum.
