We're Nouvelle Maison, a French-inspired market, café, and wine shop in the heart of downtown Winchester. Think of us as your neighborhood destination for great food and wine: part café, boulangerie, fromagerie, and curated wine & spirits shop. Nouvelle Maison is a place to shop for the home and a space to gather. You can pick up dinner ingredients, find unique gifts, discover a new bottle, or join us for a tasting or glass of wine. Located next to the Winchester Train Station (Lowell Line), we're just 18 minutes north of Boston. Job Description We are looking for a Wine & Spirits Manager to join our leadership team and help shape the customer experience across our wine, spirits and cafe spaces. This is a hands-on, floor-focused role for someone who enjoys engaging with customers, hosting tastings, and creating a welcoming, energetic environment. As part of a small management team, you'll lead by example: driving sales, supporting the team, and contributing to the overall success of the business. The ideal candidate is comfortable recommending a bottle, guiding a customer through our spirits collection, leading an evening class, or stepping into busy service moments at our cafe / wine bar. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who is looking to grow into a broader leadership role in wine and hospitality.
Responsibilities include:
Customer Experience & Sales :
Be a strong presence on the floor, engaging customers and driving wine and spirits sales daily. Provide thoughtful, approachable recommendations and build relationships with repeat customers. "Wine Bar"
Service & Execution:
Help execute and evolve our by-the-glass wine program and overall in-store experience.
Events & Programming :
Support and grow our in-store tastings, classes, and private events, including hosting events
Wine & Spirits Selection :
Support wine buying, inventory, and merchandising in partnership with ownership
Monthly Wine Club :
Help grow the wine club program by engaging customers and supporting wine selection
Team Development :
Train and support staff to build confidence selling wine and spirits
Merchandising & Operations :
Contribute to in-store displays and seasonal features
Leadership :
Partner with the management team to drive overall store performance.
Key Skills Required:
Passion for wine and spirits, with a strong understanding of wine culture, trends, and products (specifically Europe & USA) 2-4 years of experience in wine retail, hospitality or a restaurant / beverage program Naturally engaging & eager to learn about spirits and beverage program development Organized and reliable, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment Interested in growing into a broader leadership role over time Wine certification(s) preferred but not required
Benefits:
Salary:
$55,000 - $65,000 (depending on experience) plus performance-based bonus (target ~15%) tied to departmental gross margin, event success, and overall business performance Store discount Paid time off and sick days Health insurance stipend
