earn $1.50/hr more Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support store leadership and ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced retail environment. This role assumes full responsibility for the store during the Store Manager's absence. It's an ideal opportunity for an emerging retail leader looking to build management experience while supporting a meaningful mission. What You'll Do
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations
- Supervise, train, schedule, and coach retail employees and volunteers
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer and donor service
- Help achieve sales, production, and expense control goals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store environment
- Investigate and document accidents, injuries, and safety issues
- Oversee merchandising, inventory flow, and sales floor presentation
- Address customer concerns and promote Goodwill's mission and values
- Assume store leadership responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent Schedule & Availability
- Weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday) is required
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and holidays
- Reliable transportation required for each scheduled shift What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in retail or a related environment
- Strong people leadership, customer service, and merchandising skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Self-starter mindset with flexibility to learn and grow Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a personal vehicle required
- Ability to perform all essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs (frequent lifting up to 25 lbs)
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands throughout shift
