Job Description

Assistant Manager - Liquor Store We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and hands-on Assistant Manager to help manage the daily operations of our liquor store. This position is ideal for someone who takes initiative, communicates well, provides excellent customer service, and can help keep the store organized and running efficiently. Key Responsibilities Assist with overall day-to-day store operations and work closely with ownership/management. Provide excellent customer service and help resolve customer questions or concerns professionally. Supervise and support team members during assigned shifts and help ensure daily tasks are completed. Help train new employees on store procedures, POS operations, customer service, stocking, and other responsibilities. Monitor employee performance, attendance, shift coverage, and completion of assigned tasks. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including registers, cash handling, deposits, and store security. Operate and oversee the Clover POS system , including accurate product entries, pricing, and transactions. Work with beer, wine, and liquor vendors and distributor representatives. Review vendor schedules, deliveries, invoices, credits, and related paperwork. Assist with inventory ordering and maintain appropriate stock levels while avoiding over-ordering. Receive deliveries, verify products and quantities against invoices, and report discrepancies. Monitor fast-moving, slow-moving, and out-of-stock products and communicate ordering needs to management. Ensure products are properly stocked, faced, priced, and displayed. Help maintain accurate inventory records and participate in inventory counts. Monitor product pricing and promotions and make sure POS pricing matches shelf pricing. Assist with merchandising, displays, cooler organization, and seasonal product placement. Ensure the sales floor, checkout area, coolers, storage areas, and back room remain clean and organized. Follow and enforce all store policies regarding ID verification and responsible alcohol sales . Help prevent theft, inventory loss, cash discrepancies, and other store losses. Communicate store issues, staffing concerns, inventory needs, and vendor matters promptly to ownership/management. Take initiative in identifying and completing tasks without needing constant direction. Perform other store-related duties as needed. Qualifications Previous retail, liquor store, convenience store, grocery, or supervisory experience preferred. Prior leadership or assistant management experience is a plus. Strong customer service and communication skills. Comfortable supervising employees and providing direction when needed. Basic knowledge of inventory management, ordering, and POS systems preferred. Strong attention to detail with cash handling, invoices, pricing, and inventory. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Must be comfortable working with vendors and delivery representatives. Ability to lift and move cases of beer, wine, liquor, and other merchandise. Must meet all applicable age and legal requirements for working in a liquor store. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required . The right person should be dependable, proactive, organized, comfortable leading others, and willing to step in wherever needed to keep the store running smoothly.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week Application Question(s): Do you have previous retail, liquor store, or supervisory/management experience?
