Elon Main Campus Position Summary The Art Department Studio Manager will be responsible for supporting the operation and safety of departmental studio facilities. The role centers on the Ceramics studio while also providing oversight across painting, drawing, photography, and digital art. The position will assist faculty and students with day-to-day studio needs, coordinate equipment maintenance and safety compliance, and supervise departmental work-study students. Minimum Required Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree in Art or a related discipline, or significant equivalent work experience in studio arts, fabrication, or studio management.
- Experience in technical oversight, facilities support, or hands-on operations in art studios, workshops, labs, or comparable environments. Demonstrated ability to learn new technical systems, equipment, and safety protocols quickly and independently.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to manage multiple spaces and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to train and supervise student staff. Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed. Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience working in or managing a ceramics studio, including familiarity with kilns, clay bodies, glazes, and related equipment.
- Experience working in other art studio environments such as painting, drawing, photography, digital arts, or woodworking
- Experience with OSHA, EPA, or institutional safety compliance in a studio, lab, or workshop setting.
- Experience with facilities coordination and supervising employees, student workers, or volunteers.
- MFA or graduate-level training in a studio art discipline.
