June 15, 2026 About our Non-Profit REACH of Haywood County REACH of Haywood County is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking in Haywood County for over 40 years About Within REACH Resale Store Our resale store, Within REACH, is critical to our organization's mission, as it helps fund essential services for survivors of violence, including court advocacy, emergency shelter, and violence prevention education. Position Summary The Assistant Store Manager of Within Reach serves as a key support role to the Store Manager, acting as an intermediary between staff and leadership. In the absence of the Store Manager, this role assumes responsibility for daily operations. When the Store Manager is present, the Assistant Store Manager oversees daily operations and procedures, allowing the Store Manager to focus on strategic and administrative responsibilities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining smooth operations, supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring a positive customer experience. Key Responsibilities Store Operations and Customer Service Oversee daily store operations in the absence of the Store Manager Assign daily tasks to staff and volunteers and provide direction as needed Address customer service issues, including shoplifting, difficult situations, and conflict resolution Track and process refunds and voided sales Run the cash register, handle cash transactions, and maintain a clean and organized front desk Fill in for staff positions as needed Maintain store cleanliness and organization, including bathrooms, floors, windows, and kitchen areas Assist in recovering and reorganizing the store during slower periods Inventory and Donations Management Track inventory and maintain adequate store supplies Order necessary supplies and complete store runs as needed Receive and process donations, including assisting donors, unloading vehicles, organizing and cleaning incoming items Load, unload, and stack recycling into trailers Empty trash and maintain dumpster areas Price and merchandise housewares, clothing, accessories, and furniture Staff and Volunteer Support Provide guidance to support team success and maintain positive morale Train, mentor, and provide ongoing support to staff and volunteers Maintain updated contact information and track volunteer applications Develop guidelines and procedures for staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operations Step into operational roles when staffing coverage is needed Cash Handling and Financial Procedures Handle store cash and ensure proper financial procedures are followed Determine change needs, inventory available change, and obtain change from the bank Count and log cash donations Balance registers and prepare bank deposits Use and track petty cash Routinely count and log all cash in the safe Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in retail, customer service, or nonprofit store operations preferred Experience working and managing a volunteer program preferred Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to manage conflict and handle difficult customer situations professionally Experience handling cash and following financial procedures Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to REACH's mission and values Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift 25-40 pounds Ability to bend, reach, push carts, organize merchandise, etc. REACH of Haywood County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values a diverse and inclusive workplace.
