Job Description
Job Overview The Produce Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the produce department in a retail environment. This role involves managing staff, ensuring product quality, and maximizing sales while maintaining a clean and organized department. The Produce Manager plays a key role in creating an inviting shopping experience for customers by providing fresh, high-quality produce and exceptional service. Duties Manage the daily operations of the produce department, including inventory management and product displays. Ensure that all produce items are fresh, properly priced, and displayed attractively to encourage sales. Train, supervise, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization. Collaborate with suppliers to buy quality products at competitive prices while monitoring inventory levels to minimize waste. Conduct regular inspections of produce quality and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Communicate effectively with team members and upper management regarding department performance, staffing needs, and customer feedback. Assist in recruiting new team members to build a strong, knowledgeable staff dedicated to customer satisfaction. Skills Strong sales skills with the ability to drive revenue through effective merchandising strategies. Experience in store management or as an assistant manager within a retail environment is preferred. Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members effectively. Proficient in pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning of products in the market. Professional phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries or concerns efficiently. Strong organizational skills to manage inventory, schedules, and departmental tasks effectively. Ability to recruit and train staff to foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork and customer service excellence.
