This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building teams, solving challenges, and creating structure within a growing business. More than managing day-to-day operations, the Store Manager will work closely with company leadership to strengthen processes, develop talent, and help shape the future of the bakery. The role offers the autonomy to lead the location while contributing to broader operational and business initiatives. The Manager is responsible for the overall success of the store, overseeing both front-of-house and back-of-house operations while delivering exceptional hospitality, strong team performance, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role for a new location with a team of approximately 15 employees, including retail associates, shift supervisors, and back-of-house production staff. The Manager serves as the primary leader for the location, ensuring team members are supported, trained, and held accountable to company standards, while maintaining close collaboration with the flagship location in Millburn, NJ. Key Responsibilities Store Leadership & Operations Serve as the primary on-site leader responsible for the overall performance of the Westfield Garden State Plaza location. Lead daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and exceptional guest experiences. Provide direction, coaching, and support to team members. Ensure all opening, closing, production, and service standards are consistently executed. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, merchandising, hospitality, and product presentation. Address operational challenges and implement solutions that improve efficiency and guest satisfaction. Serve as the primary escalation point for significant guest service concerns. Ensure the location is consistently prepared for peak business periods, holidays, and seasonal volume fluctuations. Team Leadership & Development Oversee onboarding and training for all store team members, including front-of-house and back-of-house staff. Ensure training programs, skill development, and cross-training initiatives are completed successfully. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance support to team members. Identify high-performing employees with leadership potential and support succession planning efforts. Foster a positive, accountable, and hospitality-driven workplace culture. Scheduling & Labor Management Create and maintain schedules for location employees. Manage schedule changes, shift coverage, callouts, and labor deployment, ensuring the store is always staffed appropriately. Communicate staffing challenges and hiring needs to leadership to ensure staffing levels appropriately support business needs. Back-of-House Operations Oversee daily production activities, including baking and sandwich preparation. Ensure recipes, quality standards, portioning, and production procedures are followed consistently. Monitor product quality and address any concerns impacting guest experience or brand standards. Coordinate production needs with central bakery operations and support teams as required. Support effective inventory management and proper product rotation practices. Communicate waste and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce loss. Inventory, Ordering & Facilities Support receiving, storage, and inventory management for products, supplies, and packaging materials. Ensure critical operational supplies remain properly stocked. Monitor equipment performance and escalate maintenance requests as needed. Compliance & Food Safety Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, food safety, and workplace policies. Maintain readiness for health department, safety, and operational inspections. Enforce food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation standards. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence. Financial & Business Performance Support achievement of sales, labor, and operational performance goals. Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Support company initiatives, new product launches, seasonal promotions, and operational improvements. Provide regular feedback and operational updates to leadership; regular visits to the Millburn location for training and meetings. Qualifications & Experience 3+ years of leadership experience in hospitality, food service, restaurant, café, bakery, or retail operations. Previous experience managing teams in a fast-paced service environment. Experience training, coaching, and developing employees. Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hospitality best practices. Experience with POS systems, scheduling platforms, inventory systems, and basic computer applications. Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods. A genuine passion for hospitality, team development, and exceptional food.
