Job Summary:

The Patient Access Supervisor (Emergency Department) oversees daily registration operations within the ER setting, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate intake, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for supervising staff, managing scheduling and attendance, resolving patient concerns, and maintaining a high-functioning, patient-centered environment in a fast-paced emergency care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily patient registration operations within the Emergency Department, ensuring efficiency and compliance Manage staffing schedules, PTO requests, payroll/attendance functions, and department coverage while minimizing overtime Respond to patient complaints and stakeholder concerns while identifying opportunities for process improvement Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training, and mentoring new hires to ensure competency and success Conduct quality assurance reviews, monitor performance metrics, and complete annual staff evaluations Ensure compliance with departmental protocols, insurance verification processes, and healthcare regulations specific to ER workflows Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to escalate operational concerns and improve communication Maintain professionalism and foster a positive patient and team experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required OR Minimum of 5 years of relevant healthcare experience in lieu of degree Minimum of 2 years of patient registration experience required Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a physician practice, hospital, insurance provider, or healthcare setting required Prior Emergency Department or high-volume acute care experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of insurance verification, authorizations, referrals, and managed care plans Experience with EPIC, Cerner, or other healthcare EHR systems preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
