Job Description Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Softlines Department Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations, sales performance, and customer experience within assigned Softlines departments, including Apparel, Accessories, and Prestige Brands. This role is accountable for maximizing sales, profitability, inventory objectives, and customer engagement while developing a high-performing team that consistently delivers exceptional service. The Softlines Department Manager plans, coordinates, and executes daily and weekly workloads to achieve department and store sales goals. They create schedules aligned with business demands and customer traffic, maintain merchandising standards, manage inventory, and ensure operational excellence throughout their areas of responsibility. This leader promotes a customer-centric culture by coaching and developing associates to provide extraordinary shopping experiences. They set clear expectations, foster accountability, and utilize performance management practices to drive results. The Department Manager is also responsible for resolving customer concerns, de-escalating challenging situations, and empowering team members to deliver solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of associates to achieve sales, profit, customer service, and operational objectives. Maximize sales performance, profitability, and inventory productivity within assigned Softlines departments. Plan and execute daily and weekly workloads to support department and store goals. Foster a positive, customer-focused culture that emphasizes service excellence and employee engagement. Ensure all customers receive an extraordinary shopping experience through proactive service and product knowledge. Maintain merchandise presentation, inventory accuracy, and departmental standards. Quickly and professionally resolve customer concerns while empowering associates to provide effective solutions. Lead a culture of accountability through clear communication, coaching, and performance management. Support cross-functional store operations and collaborate with other department leaders to achieve overall store objectives. Qualifications Previous retail supervisory or management experience required; experience in Apparel, Accessories, Prestige Brands, or Softlines preferred. Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve organizational objectives. Strong understanding of retail sales, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service principles. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills. Ability to think quickly, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and accountability. Ability to learn and adapt to changing technology and business processes. Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills. Basic computer proficiency. Willingness to cross-train and support other store areas as business needs require. Job Grade 3 Job Tier 1 Career Area Retail Operations Supervisor Yes Job Qualifications One year of retail experience in retail store operations within the last two years is required. If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting. Additional Qualifications/Requirements
