Job Summary Company description Tri Corner Food Equity, Education and Distribution is an equal opportunity, 501(c)(3) non profit organization seeking to strengthen our local food system by creating markets for farmers and increasing access to nutrient dense food. One way we do this is by developing a community supported sliding scale grocery store (Tri Corner FEED Market) that seeks to: increase access to healthy food, improve community engagement, create markets for local producers and support the preparation of nutritious foods in our incubator kitchen. Position Summary We are looking for a warm, personable assistant manager who can be the face of our mission. The right candidate will be at ease talking to customers about our mission, food security, the farms we support and how we work to support our community. The right person will be extremely articulate and able to demonstrate an intuition for responding to people's questions and needs. Candidates must have ability to multi task - able to check out customers, answer questions and monitor the line simultaneously. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Retail Operations Greet and assist customers to enhance the overall shopping experience. Build relationships with customers and represent our organization's value in every interaction. Understand Farmer practices and communicate information on growing practices and products to customers. Understand product mix and rationale behind procurement practices. Check out customers. Prepare coffee drinks for customers Store Maintenance & Inventory Restock shelves, ensuring items are front facing, properly labeled, and within date. Perform regular stock counts and monitor inventory levels. Receive, unpack, and verify the accuracy of deliveries and shipments. Maintain cleanliness throughout the store including aisles, displays, and checkout areas. Rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Incubator Kitchen Support chefs to prepare food Learn and follow safety and sanitation standards in both the store and kitchen, including proper food handling. Required Skills and Experience Must have very strong communication skills and demonstrate intuition for identifying customer needs. Must be comfortable initiativing conversations with strangers Ability to remember customers in a way that makes them feel part of our community Ability to expalin complex or sensitive topics clearly and without judgement. Active listener who can read a customer's comfort level and adjust tone accordingly. Confident public facing presence; enjoys engaging with the community Ability to work efficiently and accurately under time pressure Strong multitasking skills - able to check out customers answer questions and monitor the line simultaneously. Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Familiarity with food safety and customer service standards is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Attention to detail, time management, and reliability are essential. Comfort and experience working and communicating with people from various backgrounds Independent, dependable and hardworking. Ability to carry store inventory up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds. Inventory management can involve physically strenuous work including lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, and utilizing ladders and step stools.
