The Role

The Team Lead is responsible for supporting department leadership in the day-to-day operation of the production floor, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and compliance with FreshDirect standards for Quality, Food Safety, and Employee Health & Safety. This role serves as a frontline leader, providing coaching, direction, and support to team members while ensuring operational goals and customer commitments are consistently achieved.

What You'll Do

Lead and support daily production operations to ensure productivity, accuracy, and quality standards are met.

Promote and enforce compliance with Food Safety, Sanitation (GMPs), Employee Health & Safety, and company policies.

Ensure work areas remain safe, clean, organized, and audit-ready.

Monitor order fulfillment, processing, and production activities to maintain operational excellence.

Collaborate with Supervisors and Managers to resolve production and workflow challenges.

Provide coaching, training, and ongoing development to hourly team members.

Address routine team member concerns, conflicts, and performance issues, escalating matters when appropriate.

Manage attendance and staffing needs, reallocating resources to maintain operational continuity.

Execute operating plans and departmental priorities established by leadership.

Troubleshoot operational issues and escalate significant concerns as needed.

Support company initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Follow up on action items and ensure food safety and employee safety remain top priorities.

Train team members on processes, procedures, and best practices.

Perform production duties alongside team members as required.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

Current full-time FreshDirect employee; six months of service preferred.

Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead teams with respect, accountability, and professionalism.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual skills preferred.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to hold team members accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, and performance standards.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with warehouse, production, or inventory management systems preferred.

Ability to navigate operational systems and dashboards to manage workflow and performance.

Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Commitment to FreshDirect's values, mission, and culture.

Internal Eligibility Requirements

No written warnings within the last 12 months prior to application.

No suspensions within the last 12 months prior to application.

If PITO certified, no incidents or corrective actions within the last 12 months prior to application.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts lasting 6 to 10+ hours.

Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive hand movements.

Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments, including temperatures below -10°F and between 32°F and 40°F.

Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.

Ability to work in cold and wet environments.

Ability to safely operate equipment such as electric pallet jacks, box cutters, and other warehouse machinery.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Salary

Note:

The pay rate for the role is an increase of $2.00/hr on your current base hourly pay.
