Job Description Primary Purpose:
Oversees all inspection, repair, modification, and maintenanceactivities for locomotives and/or cars.
Principal Duties:
  • Monitors quality of repair to locomotives and/or cars to assure high reliability of locomotive and/or car fleet.
  • Works with control center on scheduling of locomotives in & out ofshop & all train movements to minimize delays to trains & shopproduction.
  • Provides training to subordinates.
  • Ensures all procedures & instructions relating to environmentalmatters are adhered to by employees.
  • Ensures quality issues are addressed and that work performed at alllocations is in accordance with requirements.
  • Ensures employees carry out this work within the parameters ofFederal, State, & Corporate Safety Regulations, thus requiringcomplete familiarization with these statutes & rules.
  • Keeps records of locomotive and/or car work performed on their shiftand makes recommendations for improvements in procedure, shopequipment, or facilities to assure maximum safety, production, andlocomotive and/or car performance.
