Owner Position Overview We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and customer-focused Lead Barista/Coffee Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our coffee shop. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys making excellent drinks, providing great customer service, and leading a team. The Lead Barista/Coffee Shop Manager will work behind the bar alongside the team while also being responsible for staff supervision, training, cleanliness, inventory, product quality, and smooth day-to-day operations. Key ResponsibilitiesBarista & Customer Service Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, matcha beverages, teas, refreshers, frappes, and other menu items according to shop standards. Maintain consistent drink quality, presentation, and portioning. Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service. Take customer orders and accurately operate the POS system. Handle customer questions, concerns, and service issues professionally. Maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere for customers. Team Leadership Lead by example and actively work alongside baristas during shifts. Train new employees on drink preparation, recipes, equipment, customer service, cleaning, and food-safety procedures. Assign daily duties and ensure opening, closing, and shift responsibilities are completed. Coach employees and provide constructive feedback when needed. Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and assist with employee scheduling. Encourage teamwork, professionalism, punctuality, and accountability. Shop Operations Oversee opening and closing procedures. Ensure the café is clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service. Monitor daily workflow and make adjustments during busy periods. Maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, refrigerators, and other equipment according to cleaning and maintenance procedures. Report equipment problems and coordinate repairs when necessary. Help maintain compliance with applicable health, sanitation, and food-safety requirements. Inventory & Ordering Monitor coffee beans, milk, alternative milks, syrups, matcha, cups, lids, food items, cleaning supplies, and other inventory. Prepare or place supply orders as needed. Receive deliveries and verify quantities. Rotate inventory and monitor expiration dates. Minimize product waste and unnecessary supply costs. Communicate inventory shortages or vendor issues to ownership. Cleaning & Food Preparation Ensure counters, equipment, floors, tables, restrooms, storage areas, and customer areas remain clean. Ensure employees follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules. Wash dishes and clean equipment as needed. Prepare or assist with basic café food items such as sandwiches, pastries, and grab-and-go items when applicable. Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation procedures. Cash & Business Responsibilities Accurately handle cash and POS transactions. Complete opening and closing register procedures. Monitor refunds, discounts, voids, and cash discrepancies. Assist ownership with tracking sales, labor, inventory, waste, and other operating costs. Communicate operational issues, staffing concerns, customer feedback, and improvement opportunities to ownership. Qualifications Previous lead barista, shift lead experience required. Previous café management, restaurant management, or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and milk steaming. Ability to train employees and maintain consistent drink standards. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Dependable, organized, punctual, and able to take initiative. Comfortable working independently and making decisions during a shift. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of inventory management and cash handling. Availability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Food Handler certification required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, clean, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to safely lift and carry approximately 30-40 pounds. Ability to work around hot equipment, liquids, and commercial café equipment. $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
