An Assistant Retail Store Manager provides support to the Manager of a retail store, either an independent business or a store that is part of a large retail chain. May have primary responsibility for hiring and training retail sales staff. Reviews and monitors merchandise sales, inventory and prices, and directs advertising and promotions. Supervises sales, warehouse, cleaning, maintenance and security staff and prepares work schedules. Responsible for resolving customer complaints.

Position Overview This is a key leadership role in a high-volume, 24-hour retail environment. The Assistant Store Manager works directly with the Store Manager, HR Manager, and Owner. In the manager's absence, this position assumes full managerial authority and responsibility. This is not a passive role. This is leadership in action. What You Will Be Responsible ForLeadership & Coverage Managing daily operations in a 24-hour facility Ensuring full shift coverage at all times Personally filling coverage gaps when necessary Proactively staying ahead of hiring and training needs Running the store to ownership standards Managerial Authority (When Covering) Hiring and onboarding Coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations Enforcing policies and procedures Maintaining documentation and compliance Operations Inventory management and control Merchandising and floor moves Banking, deposits, and financial reporting Understanding payroll budgets and labor management Ensuring strict register and cash-handling procedures Daily reporting and documentation Training & Development Teaching store terminology and product basics Training staff on customer service expectations Ensuring consistency in service and compliance Leading by example on the sales floor What We Expect 3-5 years of retail management experience preferred Strong leadership and accountability Comfortable making tough decisions Excellent communication with Store Manager, HR, and Ownership Willingness to step in and work shifts when coverage gaps occur Organized, proactive, and solution-focused Commitment to customer-first service Culture & Expectations We do not just manage stores.
