Job Description
Business Operations Manager AW Outlet Fort Worth, TX Job Details Full-time From $50,000 a year 21 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Spanish English Attention to detail Organizational skills Retail management Full Job Description Position Summary AW Outlets is seeking a hands-on, highly detail-oriented Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operational execution across our warehouse, retail outlet locations, and marketplace. This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate will spend most of the week in the field, walking facilities, meeting with location leaders, reviewing productivity and inventory flow, identifying issues, and making sure each location is clean, organized, safe, fully operational, and ready for business. The ideal candidate notices the small things before they become big things: a burned-out light, a dirty restroom, a damaged sign, merchandise sitting in a back room, missed markdowns, incomplete seasonal setup, poor warehouse organization, or an unresolved maintenance issue. The role requires strong follow-through, sound judgment, and the ability to hold teams accountable in a practical and respectful way. Core Responsibilities
- Visit each AW location on a regular weekly rotation and serve as the primary operational check-in for management.
- Conduct detailed facility walks covering cleanliness, lighting, restrooms, floors, windows, signage, alarms, cameras, exterior conditions, safety concerns, and general presentation.
- Identify maintenance or facility issues, establish ownership and deadlines, and follow through until corrected.
- Review prior-week productivity and operating results with warehouse and store leadership.
- Track receiving, processing, merchandise flow, inventory organization, pending work, and unresolved operational issues.
- Verify that incoming merchandise is processed promptly and that sellable product is moved to the sales floor rather than accumulating in back rooms or staging areas.
- Confirm markdowns, price changes, seasonal transitions, promotional shops, signage, and other company directives are executed accurately and on time.
- Evaluate staffing coverage and readiness for anticipated deliveries, workload, seasonal activity, and special projects.
- Partner with store managers, warehouse leaders, and ownership to solve problems and improve productivity, organization, and standards.
- Create clear follow-up lists after visits and confirm that agreed corrective actions are completed.
- Escalate significant safety, security, inventory, staffing, facilities, or operational concerns to senior management promptly. Warehouse Operations Focus
- Review the current week's delivery schedule and expected inbound volume.
- Review how many units were received and processed during the prior week and whether productivity expectations were met.
- Confirm trailers and inbound loads have been received, unloaded, processed, and cleared appropriately.
- Review any pending freight, unprocessed merchandise, store transfers, returns, or other backlog.
- Inspect warehouse cleanliness, sweeping, organization, aisle clearance, lighting, equipment, docks, staging areas, and overall readiness.
- Confirm staffing is appropriate for the workload and that the team has a clear plan for the week.
- Work directly with warehouse leadership to resolve obstacles and prevent recurring operational issues. Retail Outlet Operations Focus
- Meet with the store manager to review current operational issues, priorities, staffing, inventory flow, and outstanding work.
- Walk the full store, stockrooms, restrooms, receiving areas, offices, exterior areas, and other operational spaces.
- Check cleanliness, lighting, fixtures, windows, signage, alarms, cameras, restrooms, floors, and overall store condition.
- Review shipment processing and confirm merchandise is out of the back room and available for sale as quickly as practical.
- Verify markdowns, pricing, signage, seasonal shops, promotional presentations, and special projects are current and complete.
- Review inventory organization, back-room discipline, pending transfers, damages, returns, and other operational exceptions.
- Identify missed standards, understand why they occurred, assign corrective action, and follow up. AW Marketplace Focus
- Oversee the operational condition and presentation of the Marketplace, including the AW Outlet area and approximately 50 independent vendor spaces.
- Maintain a strong facilities focus: lighting, restrooms, cleanliness, common areas, signage, safety, security, exterior conditions, and overall customer-ready appearance.
- Check in with vendors and on-site team members to identify facility concerns, operating issues, or recurring problems.
- Coordinate resolution of issues that affect multiple vendors or the overall shopping environment.
- Help maintain consistent standards while recognizing the Marketplace operates differently from a traditional single-operator retail store. Typical Weekly Rhythm The schedule should remain flexible based on business needs, but a typical week may include:
- Monday - Warehouse operations review, productivity check, delivery planning, facility inspection, and follow-up with the warehouse team.
- Tuesday - One retail outlet visit, including store manager check-in, full operational walk, inventory/productivity review, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Wednesday - Second retail outlet visit with the same operational review and standards check.
- Thursday - Marketplace visit, with emphasis on facilities, vendor concerns, presentation, safety, and site-wide operational issues.
- Friday - Flexible follow-up day for unresolved issues, special projects, vendor/contractor appointments, return visits, management meetings, or coverage at the location with the greatest need. Qualifications & Experience
- Prior retail operations or store management experience strongly preferred.
- Warehouse, distribution, receiving, inventory, or high-volume merchandise processing experience is a strong plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required due to the day-to-day operating environment across the locations.
- Strong facilities awareness and the ability to recognize maintenance, cleanliness, safety, security, and presentation issues quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to review productivity, ask the right questions, identify root causes, and drive follow-through.
- Comfortable working directly with store managers, warehouse teams, hourly associates, vendors, contractors, and ownership.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple locations and open issues at the same time.
- Practical, hands-on leadership style with the confidence to address problems directly and professionally.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel routinely between AW locations.
- Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or other non-standard hours when operational or facility needs require it. What Success Looks Like
- Locations are clean, safe, organized, functional, and customer-ready.
- Deliveries and merchandise are processed promptly with minimal backlog.
- Back rooms and warehouse staging areas remain controlled and organized.
- Markdowns, seasonal shops, signage, and operating directives are completed on time.
- Facility and maintenance problems are identified early and closed quickly.
- Store and warehouse managers know what is expected, what needs correction, and when follow-up will occur.
- Ownership receives a clear picture of what is working, what is not, and what requires attention across the business.
