Job Description
Position Summary The Grocery Manager is responsible for leading the Grocery Department to achieve sales, profitability, and operational excellence. This role ensures exceptional customer service, maintains proper inventory levels, and drives execution of merchandising and company initiatives while developing and leading a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all daily operations of the Grocery Department Drive sales through effective merchandising, in-stock conditions, and promotional execution Ensure department meets financial goals including sales, margin, and shrink targets Maintain proper inventory levels through ordering, forecasting, and inventory control Oversee product quality, rotation, and compliance with freshness standards Ensure all pricing, signage, and displays are accurate and compliant Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly Hire, train, develop, and coach team members to maximize performance Create and manage schedules to align labor with business needs Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and food safety standards Partner with Store Director and other department leaders to drive total store results Leadership Expectations Model strong leadership and accountability within the department Build a positive and inclusive team environment Develop bench strength through coaching and succession planning Communicate clearly and consistently with team members and leadership Foster a customer-first culture across all operations Qualifications Previous grocery or retail management experience preferred Strong leadership and team development skills Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising principles Ability to analyze sales and performance metrics Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move product (up to 50 lbs regularly) Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stocking Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment
