Sales Associates General Purpose of Position:
As part of the management team, a Department Manager works directly with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to ensure the responsibilities of day-to-day management and operations of the retail store are being met. The Department Manager helps with implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. The Department Manager is responsible for opening and closing the store when the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager are not present. A Department Manager is a role model and leader. He or she must have the ability to make informative decisions, solve problems in a critical and diligent manner, and effectively manage the store when the Store Manager is not present. Responsibilities/Duties
  • Responsible for ensuring that the highest level of customer service is met through thorough training and inspiration to sales associates.
  • Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.
  • Assists with orientation, training, coaching, and developing sales associates in execution of daily tasks and sales.
  • Oversees compliance of sales associates with established company policies and standards.
  • Keeps sales associates on task with the daily duties delegated by managers.
  • Ensures safekeeping of all Tyler's property.
  • Maintains store appearance and product presentation to company standards.
  • Communicates with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to arrange, organize, and display new merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Responsible for specific department goals, cleanliness, organization, aesthetic appeal, and inventory management.
  • Ensure that merchandise is stored, handled, and displayed in accordance with Tyler's policies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Works with managers and backroom managers to keep assigned department back stock organized.
  • Provides support to sales associates during peak periods or when scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Processes sales transactions, returns, and special orders, and ensures that all related documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • Executes merchandising plans.
  • Handles inventory discrepancies as soon as possible.
  • Works to prevent damage and theft of merchandise.
  • Assists in management of store operations.
  • Keeps the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager well informed of activities and significant issues.
  • Job functions include Sales Associate and Assistant Store Manager level duties.
  • Locks and secures the store.
  • Reports to Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager. Skills
  • Ability to develop and train workforce, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to merchandise effectively.
  • Ability to manage store operations effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide instructions to sales associates.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job. Requirements
  • Available to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have at least 1 - 2 years retail management experience.
  • Self-motivator with strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills.
  • Desirable qualities should include competitiveness, passion for retail as a career, a committed and positive attitude, leadership abilities, and are able to motivate a team.

$15.00 - $19.00 per hour
