Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Diesel Shop Manager to lead our heavy equipment and vehicle maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop activities, coordinate repairs, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. Your expertise will drive efficiency, foster team development, and uphold our commitment to exceptional service. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader with a passion for heavy machinery, automotive repair, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Manage daily shop operations, including scheduling repairs and overseeing workflow to maximize productivity. Supervise a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality workmanship. Oversee the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, and other heavy equipment components. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations across all shop activities. Coordinate with customers and vendors to facilitate parts procurement, service scheduling, and project timelines. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory management for tools and parts. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through process optimization and skill development. Requirements Proven experience in waste or heavy equipment shop management with strong mechanical knowledge. Extensive background in diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, welding, fabrication, and equipment assembly. Familiarity with schematics, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, tire service, and power tools. Hands-on experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and other industrial machinery. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures including brake repair, wheel alignment, air brake systems, shocks & struts replacement. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; strong troubleshooting skills. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong customer service orientation with clear communication skills. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate hand tools safely; willingness to work in physically demanding environments. Pay:
$56,581.46 - $120,000.00 per year
