Job Description

Assistant Director — The Learning Experience, Graham WA We're hiring an Assistant Director to run daily operations and own enrollment at our Graham, WA center. Your top priorities are contacting leads, conducting tours, and keeping the center tour-ready and operating to TLE standards every day. What You'll Own Lead response & tours: Respond to every new lead within the same business day, schedule tours fast, and personally conduct tours. Own the tour-to-enrollment conversion rate as a tracked KPI. Follow up on every lead until they enroll or formally decline. Tour-ready, every day: The center is presentation-ready from open to close — clean classrooms, organized rooms, brand-standard displays, no clutter — so any walk-in tour reflects TLE at its best Daily operations: Schedules, ratios, classroom coverage, supply organization, and box/inventory management TLE brand standards: Daily walkthroughs against SOP — room organization, safety visibility (unobstructed door and window sightlines), curriculum boards, parent-facing displays — full compliance, not 80% Teacher & support staff coaching: Coach teachers, cook, and breakers on their roles and standards; hold them accountable to curriculum execution, cleanliness, and daily routines through documented coaching and consistent follow-through Cleanliness & maintenance: Own the daily and weekly cleaning routine — kitchen, classrooms, bathrooms, common areas, outdoor space — and the maintenance issue log; nothing lingers Payroll & labor: Build weekly schedules that maintain ratios while keeping labor cost in line with budget; manage floater coverage so no day operates short-staffed Hiring & performance: Screen candidates, onboard new hires, document performance issues, and conduct termination conversations when needed — hire right, fire fast What We're Looking For 2+ years in childcare or early education; Assistant Director or lead teacher experience strongly preferred Track record of converting tours into enrollments — with numbers you can speak to Comfortable on the phone, on email, and in person with prospective families — friendly, fast, and persistent without being pushy Working knowledge of Washington DCYF licensing requirements Comfortable scheduling staff, reading a labor report, and adjusting on the fly Coaching mindset — develops staff through clear standards and direct feedback, not by doing their job for them Willing to hold teachers, cook, and support staff accountable directly — including hard conversations and terminations Direct communicator — tells ownership and the Director what's actually happening, early, not after problems become crises STARS-qualified Organized, detail-oriented, and walks the floor — not a desk manager Compensation Competitive hourly or salaried pay based on experience Performance bonus tied to enrollment growth, tour-to-enrollment conversion, operational excellence, and tour-readiness — gated by full compliance with TLE brand standards and DCYF licensing PTO, professional development, and childcare discount
