Assistant Retail Sales Manager

This position is full-time (38 hours) and paid hourly. It requires 2 to 4 hours of dedicated administrative work and training per week with remaining time spent working in the Front of House/Coffee team.

The Assistant Retail Sales Manager supports the overall growth of Oxbow retail sales through training, planning, purchasing, and inventory management with direction from the Retail Sales Manager. They also contribute to the oversight and training of all staff within the Retail Sales Department including baristas and the front of house service team. The Assistant Retail Sales Manager works with the Retail Sales Manager to accomplish retail sales goals, improve systems, and address staffing challenges. They also write and send department-wide communications in coordination with the Retail Sales Manager. The Assistant Retail Sales Manager helps implement visual merchandising within the physical space of the bakery, has input into department purchasing decisions, contributes to new product development, and regularly performs staff training. This person must be a responsible, capable, and dependable point person who communicates clearly and positively with teammates. They should be able to communicate clearly with the Retail Sales Manager and the rest of the management team. They should demonstrate the Oxbow specific style of service, and be able to give feedback and direction clearly, professionally, and often to their staff without hesitation and with positivity.

Additional responsibilities to be determined by the Retail Sales Manager depending on skills and experience.

This full-time position requires weekend availability, and is paid hourly. The person holding this position will be responsible for administrative tasks that will include inventory and ordering, vendor payment, and assisting in menu development.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork as a member of a team and as a leader to ensure the completion of daily work and bakery cleanliness.

Facilitate communication between AM and PM crews.

Ensure that pastries and prepped items are handled, and stored in a manner consistent with Oxbow s standards. Provide guidance, training and oversight to all retail staff.

Fill in gaps in the schedule when necessary. Maintain an organized, respectful and efficient environment. Communicate conflicts promptly to the position s direct manager.

Model the bakery s values in interactions with fellow staff and customers.

Support and implement systems for new retail endeavors including: beer and wine service, in-house plated food service, slicing bread, etc. as decided upon by the Retail Sales Manager.

Support staff teams with regular communication, training, product education, and timely scheduling.

Help manage inventory and purchasing for all retail goods including beer, wine, grocery items, sundry goods, books, and merchandise as decided upon by the Retail Sales Manager.

Generate regular sales reports to assess product selection, areas for growth, products to terminate as decided upon by the Retail Sales Manager.

Work with Retail Sales Manager on visual merchandising.

Job RequirementsMust have a current Washington State Food Workers Card and Mast Certification.

Must be able to lift #50 and stand for the majority of an 8 hour shift in a bakery that sometimes reaches temperatures in excess of 80 degrees.

Preferable 6 months plus work experience at Oxbow and familiarity with or willingness and ability to quickly train into all areas of retail sales.

The position is full-time.

Must be able to work partial weekends.
