The Inside Sales Engineer assists outside sales in providing excellent customer service to our customers. This is done by understanding our customer's needs, providing a high-level of technical support, and selecting the most optimum airside products and equipment based on the project needs. The Inside Sales Engineer maintains and develops existing customer relationships through quality service and supporting their needs. Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Watts sales team to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products and to provide sales support. Confer with customers, sales engineers, and takeoff department to assess HVAC airside products and equipment needs and to determine system requirements. Maintain detailed records and project notes on the development of plans and selections. Complete take-off and technical selections of HVAC airside products and equipment from building plans. Work with the Watts team to develop project proposals based on customer request or information. Assemble and review technical documents for primary and supporting project submittal packages. Review and run quality assurance checks on orders prior to submitting to manufacturers via online software or typed purchase orders. Complete internal Watts sales order documentation. Review manufacturer acknowledgments to ensure correct equipment is listed, and the equipment is correctly priced according to customer order. Provide weekly shipping and status updates to customers with open orders. Attend industry education events, industry workshops, and manufacturer update briefings on current trends and new equipment information. Maintain detailed revision control notes on all project selections, pricing, proposals. Provide technical install support to installing contractors and end users. Coordinate responses to inquiries with factory application and technical support engineers.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or 2-4 years of work experience in the industry. Knowledge of commercial/industrial HVAC airside systems and experience reading construction plans and engineering specifications is preferred but not required Knowledge of the content and structure of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows OS, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook are required. A level of familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is preferred. Strong software skills are essential as all manufacturer's selection software and pricing are software based. Required to complete work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to organize and verbally convey technical information effectively and clearly is essential. Must follow a systematic method of consistently organizing and presenting information to support the team goal. Must be detail oriented, results oriented and able to embrace and adapt to change, along with the ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere. Must be self-motivated with the ability to take initiative with limited supervision. This job is highly technical and small details are often key to winning. Being a detailed engineer is required. Ability to understand comments and questions during the sales process. Must give full attention to what internal team members and clients are saying, understand the points being made, and ask appropriate questions at appropriates times. Ability to effectively build strong relationships with customers and coworkers.
