Job Description

•Position located in Middlesex, New Jersey •Job Overview A Technical Salesperson coordinates with the sales team to provide technical support to clients and is responsible for selling parts and service products to new prospects as well as farming back into existing customer. Measures of success include converting leads to sales, new customer acquisition rates, up-selling, cross-selling, customer satisfaction and contribution to overall sales team and business success. This role requires an engineering background with the ability to explain technical details in simple terms. Responsibilities The primary responsibility is to prepare project proposals for customers seeking to purchase company equipment and ensure the financial integrity of selling transactions is intact. Proposals that are created may range from spare parts quotes through complete turnkey projects. Must utilize provided margin guidelines, maintain a log of quotations, possibly prepare conceptual CAD drawings of the equipment being proposed and analyze customer expectations to determine what designs can be produced by the company using their standard components and methods. Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support. Plan and modify products to meet customer needs. Ensure limits of authority are followed throughout the fulfillment process. Serves as the liaison between the customer, sales team and production. Assist the sales team with technical expertise in the selection/application of standard or modified products. Provide prompt, accurate responses to sales inquiries regarding special applications, systems, or pricing. Interface with sales team for technical solutions. Partner with sales leader to measure, analyze and update progress on department financial goals and recommend improvements. Process and execute orders for standard products and/or products requiring modifications not covered by published pricing. Manage the after sales process for shipping, customer, and warranty issues. Help clients solve problems with installed equipment. Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production. Help in researching and developing new products. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, required. 5+ years' experience in any one of the following positions: Engineer in a manufacturing environment, mechanical engineer, or related area. This is a sales position. Make sure your work history includes some reference to your sales experience. Sales experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred. Specific Skills Proficient in in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Outlook) Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints, experience with AUTO CAD and SolidWorks. Experience with ERP systems. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional organization and time management skills Must have to support multiple efforts and track progress against timelines. Attention to detail. Able to analyze customer requirements and assess completeness of information; able to formulate and ask questions to follow-up to gather all missing information. Demonstrated ability to make logical decisions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
