Sales Engineer - Flow Control (Emerson Valves) Position Overview The Sales Engineer - Flow Control serves as a client-facing technical resource focused on driving valve and flow control solution sales across industrial process applications. This role partners closely with Account Managers and customers to understand process requirements, develop engineered solutions, and deliver reliable Emerson valve technologies. You will help translate complex application needs into practical, value-driven solutions while supporting the sales cycle from initial engagement through project execution and post-sale support. Key Responsibilities Partner with Account Managers to identify and support valve and flow control opportunities across key accounts Participate in customer-facing technical discussions , helping translate process requirements into Emerson valve solutions Evaluate application requirements including flow, pressure, temperature, fluid properties, and service conditions Perform control valve sizing, selection, and specification aligned with application needs Support development of RFQs, proposals, and bid responses , ensuring technical accuracy Assist in presenting solutions with a focus on reliability, performance, and overall value Serve as a technical liaison between customers, sales teams, manufacturers (Emerson/Fisher/Bettis), and internal resources Provide pre-sales and post-sales support , including technical clarifications and troubleshooting assistance Support project handoff to execution teams to ensure alignment between sold scope and delivery Help identify opportunities for retrofits, replacements, and incremental business within existing accounts Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related) 5-7+ years of experience in flow control, valves, or process equipment applications Experience with control valve sizing, selection, and application support Understanding of process variables (flow rate, pressure drop, temperature, fluid properties, material compatibility) Familiarity with common flow control challenges (cavitation, flashing, erosion, noise, severe service) Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions or application reviews Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly Preferred Qualifications Experience with Emerson / Fisher control valves, Bettis actuators , or similar products Background in applications engineering, inside sales, or sales engineering environments Experience supporting industrial or process manufacturing customers Familiarity with spec-driven and project-based sales cycles Experience using valve sizing and selection tools Key Traits for Success Strong technical foundation with an interest in customer interaction and sales support Ability to work collaboratively with sales, engineering, and operations teams Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously Proactive and service-oriented mindset focused on customer success We are proud to be an employee-owned organization.
