•A bout the Role Tec-Tel Communications, a growing security integrator serving the NJ/NYC metro area, is hiring immediately for a technically sharp Sales Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid role — candidates located in or near New Jersey or New York City are strongly preferred.. This is a key role that bridges our sales and project management teams — you'll be the technical backbone of every deal, from the first site walkthrough through design and handoff. What You'll Do Partner closely with the sales team on all pre-sales activities, including client meetings, site surveys, and technical presentations. Conduct site walkthroughs to assess customer needs and design appropriate security solutions. Develop detailed system designs, scopes of work, and proposals for security camera, access control, and low voltage systems. Specify and select appropriate equipment based on customer requirements and budget. Respond to RFPs and assist in building accurate, competitive bids. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during the pre-sales phase. Coordinate a clean, thorough handoff to the project management and installation teams once a deal is closed. Stay current on product lines, firmware updates, and new technologies to continuously improve our offerings. What You Must Have Hands-on experience with IP Security Camera systems — Hanwha (Samsung) experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with Access Control platforms, specifically RS2/ACRE or Brivo. Strong understanding of low voltage systems including structured cabling, power over ethernet, and related infrastructure. Ability to read and produce system diagrams, floor plans, and scopes of work. Strong communication skills — you must be able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences. Self-starter who can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Nice to Have ESA/NTS, NICET, BICSI or other low voltage certifications. Experience with VMS platforms such as Milestone, Genetec, or Hanwha Wave. Familiarity with IT networking concepts including VLANs, PoE switches, and firewalls.
