JOB OVERVIEW

The Technical Engineer - Inside Sales is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supporting all technical sales activities. This role acts as the primary technical resource for Inside Sales, Order Entry, Customer Service, and the Outside Sales Manager. The position ensures opportunities, RFQs, and customer requests are correctly validated, quoted, documented, and supported to drive revenue growth and strengthen customer relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Sales & Opportunity Management Create, maintain, and collaborate on CRM Sales Opportunities for new prospects, non-standard designs, customer-submitted samples, and high-volume or strategic projects. Qualify incoming RFQs by verifying designs against standard construction rules or through consultation with Engineering/Design. Generate accurate and timely sales quotes in the ERP/accounting system. Technical & Product Expertise Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all Backer Marathon products and application considerations. Understand major applications across OEM, end users, and distributors. Provide technical support to Inside Sales, Order Entry, and Customer Service. Collaboration & Cross-FunctionalSupport Partner with Engineering/Design on product development initiatives. Assist in establishing pricing structures and discount policies. Help create and maintain Sales Department procedures. Support Order Entry and Customer Service teams with technical review and validation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree minimum Sales or Customer Service experience Excellent verbal and written communication English (required): Spanish (preferred) Computer Literate (Email, Documents, Internet Browser, etc.) Strong math skills Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks daily. Ability to work well under pressure. Team works skills. Problem solving skills.
