Job Description

Build a Career, Not Just a Job Hill Threaded Products is a growing industrial supply distributor serving contractors, manufacturers, maintenance departments, and industrial customers throughout California and beyond. We're looking for a Sales Support Specialist who enjoys solving problems, helping customers, and learning new things. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career in industrial sales and customer service. Unlike many companies that expect you to know everything on day one, we provide a structured training program designed to help you learn our products, systems, and industry from the ground up. You'll gain hands-on experience in warehouse operations, product identification, quoting, sourcing, customer service, and sales support before taking ownership of customer accounts and quote opportunities. As many companies pull back during uncertain economic times, we continue investing in our people, technology, and future growth.
What You'll Do:
Customer Service & Sales Support Assist customers by phone and email with orders, quotes, and product inquiries Build strong relationships with customers and vendors Follow up on quotes and opportunities to help drive sales growth Work closely with outside sales representatives to support customer needs Product Research & Sourcing Research hard-to-find and special-order products Identify alternate products and sourcing options Communicate with vendors regarding availability, lead times, and pricing Compare supplier options to provide the best value for customers Quoting & Order Management Prepare accurate customer quotes Enter customer orders into the ERP system Review orders for accuracy and completeness Coordinate special orders and expedite urgent requirements Purchasing & Vendor Coordination Assist with purchase order placement and confirmations Coordinate returns and vendor credits Communicate with suppliers regarding order status and delivery schedules Data & System Maintenance Maintain product and vendor information Update item records and product data as needed Support ongoing data quality initiatives Training & Development Our structured onboarding program is designed to help you succeed: Month 1: Product & Warehouse Training Learn our products, warehouse operations, receiving processes, and customer interactions. Month 2: Systems & Order Processing Develop skills in order entry, quoting, pricing, and professional customer communication. Month 3: Research & Quote Ownership Begin managing quotes, researching products, and supporting customer opportunities. Month 4: Increased Responsibility Handle greater quote volume, vendor sourcing, and follow-up activities with increasing independence. Month 5+: Full Role Competency Operate as a productive Inside Sales Representative with minimal supervision and ongoing professional development. What We're Looking For Required High school diploma or equivalent Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to learn technical products and industry terminology Positive attitude and willingness to learn Preferred Experience in industrial supplies, fasteners, construction, manufacturing, maintenance, or distribution Customer service, inside sales, purchasing, or quoting experience Product identification experience Experience using ERP or inventory management systems Success in This Role The ideal candidate is: Curious and eager to learn Comfortable speaking with customers and vendors Organized and detail-oriented Able to prioritize multiple tasks Self-motivated and dependable Interested in building a long-term career with a growing company Why Work at Hill Threaded Products?
