Position Overview:
The Out of Territory Used Equipment Sales Representative is responsible for maximizing the sale of Coastline Equipment's used and aged rental fleet equipment outside of Coastline Equipment's assigned John Deere Area of Responsibility (AOR). This position develops relationships with equipment dealers, brokers, contractors, wholesalers, exporters, and end users throughout North America and Internationally to efficiently market and sell used assets while maintaining market value. In addition to equipment sales, this position will assist the UEM in identifying and sourcing quality used equipment acquisition opportunities that support Coastline Equipment's in-territory retail sales efforts. The representative will work closely with the Used Equipment Manager to help optimize inventory levels and support overall dealership profitability.Key Responsibilities:
Used Equipment Sales :
Market, promote, and sell used and aged rental fleet equipment to customers outside of Coastline Equipment's assigned territory.Business Development :
Develop and maintain relationships with equipment dealers, brokers, wholesalers, exporters, rental companies, contractors, and end users to expand sales and sourcing opportunities.Sales Process Management :
Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, quotations, negotiations, financing coordination, delivery logistics, and post-sale customer support.Equipment Acquisition & Inventory Management :
Source quality used equipment from outside Coastline's territory, evaluate acquisition opportunities, and support inventory needs across California, Nevada, and Idaho.Equipment Evaluation :
Assess equipment condition, specifications, maintenance history, market value, and profitability to support purchasing and sales decisions.Market Analysis :
Monitor auction results, wholesale trends, market conditions, dealer inventories, and competitive activity to establish equipment values and identify opportunities.Logistics Coordination :
Coordinate equipment inspections, appraisals, repairs, transportation, and acquisition logistics to ensure timely and efficient transactions.CRM & Reporting :
Maintain accurate CRM records, customer activity, inventory data, sales pipeline information, and prepare regular sales and market reports.Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Partner with Territory Sales Representatives and internal departments to support customer opportunities, inventory objectives, and territory alignment.Industry Representation & Compliance :
Represent Coastline Equipment at auctions, trade shows, dealer meetings, and industry events while ensuring compliance with dealership policies, John Deere requirements, and applicable regulations.Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.Sales Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of equipment sales, territory sales, or related industry experience.Industry Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of construction, compact equipment, rental, or heavy equipment markets.Used Equipment Expertise:
Understanding of used equipment valuation, depreciation, market trends, and equipment purchasing/sales processes.Negotiation Skills:
Excellent negotiation, closing, and customer relationship management abilities.Communication Skills:
Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Customer Focus:
Ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships through a professional and customer-focused approach.Technical Skills:
Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office applications.Organization & Time Management:
Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.Financing & Documentation:
Understanding of equipment financing options, sales documentation, and related transactional processes.Work Environment:
Ability to work from a full-service Coastline Equipment location.Preferred Qualifications:
Industry Experience:
Experience within the agricultural, construction, rental, or heavy equipment industries.John Deere Knowledge:
Knowledge of John Deere equipment, products, and competitive manufacturers.Used Equipment Sales & Purchasing:
Experience sourcing, buying, and selling used equipment.Physical Requirements:
