Statement of the Job The Business Development Associate is responsible for driving new business, expanding existing client relationships, and ensuring revenue growth aligns with company sales goals. This role requires a combination of sales expertise, customer service skills, and networking abilities to capture new revenue opportunities while contributing to the development and execution of an effective sales strategy. The Associate will also oversee the Sales Assistant and/or Coordinator, ensuring efficient daily operations and a positive employee experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Client Retention & Growth a. Proactively manage renewal discussions and secure profitable contract renewals. b. Analyze and negotiate price adjustments for existing contracts. c. Identify opportunities for expanding existing accounts to meet annual growth targets. 2. New Business Development a. Generate new business by prospecting, networking, and developing relationships with potential clients. b. Proactively re-engage non-active accounts per the sales plan. c. Contribute to the development of the company's sales strategy. 3. Marketing & Networking a. Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build relationships and generate leads. b. Establish clear goals for securing new contracts and appointments with prospective clients. 4. Team Leadership & Management a. Supervise, mentor, and develop the Sales Assistant and/or Sales and Marketing Coordinator. b. Interview, hire, and train new employees while ensuring team effectiveness and accountability. c. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support employee development. Enforce company policies related to quality, safety, ethics, and workplace conduct. 5. Sales Operations & Reporting a. Maintain and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. b. Prepare sales reports, analyze trends, and present findings to leadership. c. Track key sales performance metrics and maintain an updated sales pipeline. d. Develop and deliver presentations to clients and prospective customers. 6. Employee Development a. Adopt and communicate the company vision, mission, and values. b. Actively participate with manager for coaching and development. c. Track key performance indicators and employee scorecard metrics. Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of technical sales experience.
  • At least one year of laboratory experience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Babcock Laboratories' Competency Matrix.
  • Strong understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate with integrity and uphold company values.
