Lighting Sales Representative Job Overview We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and customer-focused Lighting Sales Representative to join our team as a 1099 Independent Contractor. This is an entrepreneurial sales opportunity for an experienced lighting professional who wants to build and grow a territory while developing strong, long-term relationships with showrooms and designers. The position is focused on growing our lighting business throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts, with a primary emphasis on supporting lighting showrooms and designers. The ideal candidate combines strong sales and relationship-building skills with hands-on experience in lighting, showroom displays, and merchandising. You will work directly with showroom clients and designers to understand their needs, educate them on our products, develop lighting solutions, and help create effective product displays that drive sales. This is a highly visible, customer-facing opportunity for someone who enjoys being in front of customers, developing relationships, solving problems, and building a business. Key Responsibilities Develop and grow lighting sales throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts , with a focus on showrooms and designers. Manage and nurture existing customer accounts by providing exceptional service, technical support, and ongoing communication to foster long-term relationships. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing showroom and design customers while identifying opportunities to increase sales within each account. Serve as a knowledgeable and responsive resource for showroom clients and designers by providing product education, technical assistance, merchandising support, and ongoing sales support. Work directly with showroom personnel to determine products and displays that best support their customers and business objectives. Build, install, arrange, and maintain lighting displays in showrooms to effectively merchandise products and maximize their visibility and sales potential. Educate showroom staff and designers on lighting products, applications, features, benefits, and new product introductions. Conduct detailed needs assessments with clients to understand their lighting requirements, project scope, and budget considerations. Present comprehensive lighting solutions that align with client specifications, leveraging your technical sales experience to demonstrate product benefits effectively. Assist customers with lighting layouts, product selection, specifications, and other technical requirements. Prepare detailed proposals, quotations, and presentations for clients while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Identify and develop new showroom and designer accounts within the territory. Maintain accurate customer, contact, opportunity, and activity information in the company's CRM system. Track sales opportunities, customer interactions, follow-ups, and account activity. Use customer and sales data to identify opportunities for account growth and territory development. Meet or exceed sales goals consistently by applying strategic account management techniques. Stay current on lighting products, industry trends, competitor offerings, design trends, and new technologies. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns that highlight product features and drive demand in the B2B market. Collaborate with internal sales, marketing, customer service, and product teams to provide an excellent customer experience. Required Experience & Qualifications Proven success in B2B sales or account management within a corporate, showroom, or technical sales environment, preferably in lighting or related industries. Hands-on experience installing lighting and building or arranging lighting displays in showrooms is required. Experience working with lighting products, showroom displays, merchandising, or a related industry is strongly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with sales management systems such as Salesforce or equivalent CRM platforms for managing customer relationships and tracking sales activities. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals effectively. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. Comfortable working directly with showroom personnel, designers, and other industry professionals. Technical sales experience involving lighting and layouts is a bonus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences. Ability to analyze market data, identify opportunities for growth, and develop strategic plans for account management. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and follow-ups. Ability to work independently and manage your territory effectively. Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. Compensation & Growth Opportunity This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity with commission-based compensation and the potential to increase earnings through territory development and sales growth. Current earning opportunity of approximately $60,000 Commission-based compensation Opportunity to increase earnings as sales and the territory grow Direct opportunity to benefit from developing new accounts and expanding existing customer relationships Opportunity to build a strong, long-term book of business throughout Connecticut and Western Massachusetts This is an opportunity for a motivated sales professional who wants to build a territory rather than simply manage an existing book of business.
