Job Description

A grower - importer - marketer of fresh fruits seeks a Sales Representative to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of fresh produce, a solid work ethic, and a proven sales track record, along with the vision, drive, and energy to contribute to the growth of our organization. This role focuses on managing assigned accounts, reactivating inactive customers, identifying new opportunities, and converting demand into profitable sales. The ideal candidate combines strong relationship-building skills with analytical insight into customer needs, pricing, seasonality, and market trends. You will work closely with the CEO and Retail Program Operations Manager to ensure customer success while maintaining margin discipline and operational alignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and grow relationships with assigned customers
  • Increase repeat business and expand product offerings within accounts
  • Identify risks (reduced orders, complaints, pricing pressure) and escalate when needed
  • Analyze customer behavior, sales trends, and market conditions
  • Conduct consistent cold calling and outreach to qualified prospects
  • Reactivate inactive customers
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline
  • Gather market intelligence and customer insights through outreach
  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned customers
  • Respond to inquiries regarding pricing, availability, and service
  • Provide timely and professional communication
  • Support larger retail opportunities in collaboration with leadership
  • Support pricing under leadership guidance
  • Escalate and obtain approval for pricing exceptions, claims, or credits
  • Communicate competitive pricing trends and buyer expectations
  • Work closely with the Retail Program Operations Manager for execution alignment
  • Ensure all customer communication reflects confirmed operational capabilities
  • Provide complete and accurate information for order execution
  • Handle complaints professionally and urgently
  • Coordinate internally for investigation and resolution
  • Escalate claims and service issues appropriately
  • Maintain a solutions-oriented approach with customers
  • Track trends in pricing, demand, and competition
  • Share insights to support sourcing and sales strategies
  • Maintain organized records of customer interactions and opportunities
  • Provide regular updates on account performance and pipeline
  • Participate in industry events and trade shows
  • Engage prospects and strengthen existing relationships
  • Support follow-up and lead conversion
Skills and Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of B2B sales experience in produce.
  • Experience working with retail, wholesale, or foodservice customers preferred
  • Understanding of pricing, margins, seasonality, and supply chain dynamics
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Effective cold calling and prospecting ability
  • High attention to detail and follow-up discipline
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
  • English required; Spanish preferred
Compensation:
DOE, Bonus, Medical Benefits Job Type:
