Job Description

The Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Summary

This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role responsible for supporting daily retail operations through exceptional customer service, sales support, order processing, and administrative coordination. The position serves as a primary point of contact for walk-in and phone customers while assisting with counter sales, cash handling, invoicing, inventory support, and accounts payable/accounts receivable processes.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic shop environment, enjoys building customer relationships, can successfully manage multiple priorities, and maintains accuracy while working under pressure. This is not a traditional clerical office position and requires frequent interaction with customers, sales staff, warehouse personnel, and delivery operations.



Key Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service to walk-in and phone customers

Manage a high volume of inbound customer calls and inquiries

Process customer orders and create delivery tickets for warehouse fulfillment

Support counter sales activities, including pricing, product information, and sales transactions.

Operate cash registers and process cash, check, and credit card payments accurately

Print invoices, sales orders, and related documentation

Assist customers with product selection and coordinate solutions to meet customer needs

Maintain positive relationships with current and prospective customers

Support inventory management activities and collaborate with sales staff to maintain inventory accuracy

Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions

Maintain accurate records, filing systems, and customer documentation

Coordinate with warehouse personnel on order fulfillment and shipment activities

Assist with warehouse operations and special projects as needed

Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal teams

Typical Education

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.



Skills & Relevant Experience 3+ years of related customer service, sales support, retail operations, office administration, or similar experience

Previous counter sales or retail sales experience a plus

Experience with invoicing, pricing, order entry, and customer account management

Knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes

Experience using multi-line phone systems

Inventory management experience

Background in turf, horticulture, agriculture, or related industries

Bilingual English and Spanish skills

Familiarity with industry-specific software and business systems

Knowledge of company products and equipment

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Experience handling cash and processing transactions accurately

Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Ability to effectively multitask and adapt to changing priorities

Hazmat and DOT regulation knowledge

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.

Requirements Valid Driver's License

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications

Ability to perform basic math functions
