Job Description

Skyline Exteriors is hiring ONE Design Consultant to run in-home appointments and close $10K-$50K+ landscaping and hardscaping projects in the North + Northwest Suburbs and Chicagoland area. This is a simple role. We provide the leads. We provide the sales system. We provide the training. You show up, follow the process, and close. If you have sold landscaping, hardscaping, outdoor living, or any exterior design-build service and you are looking for a company that will actually invest in making you better — read the rest of this post carefully. THE JOB Every lead is inbound. Homeowners find us through Google and call in. Our CSR team qualifies them, confirms decision-makers, and books the appointment for you. You do not prospect. You do not cold knock. You do not chase. You show up to pre-set, pre-qualified Design Consultations and sell. Here is what your day looks like: Review your appointments and client notes each morning. Send a personalized video to the homeowner 30 minutes before you arrive. Run 2-3 in-home Design Consultations per day using our structured sales process. Present 3 custom design options (Good, Better, Best) with physical material samples. Close on-site. Collect the deposit. Sign the agreement. For anyone who does not close same-day, send a video follow-up within 2 hours. Log everything in the CRM. No exceptions. That is the job. You are not building the system. You are not reinventing the process. You are executing it consistently, every day, and getting better at it every week.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
We do not hand you a measuring tape and a quote template and tell you to figure it out.
Here is what you get:
Pre-qualified inbound leads delivered to your calendar daily. Zero prospecting. A fully built sales system with word-for-word scripts, a 3-option presentation framework, objection playbooks, and a consultation scorecard. 5-week training program: script memorization, role-play drills, shadow ride-alongs, supervised live consultations, and weekly coaching. Weekly 1-on-1 coaching where we review your recorded consultations and fix one thing at a time until the process is automatic. Company vehicle for all client visits. No wear on your car. Company phone and iPad pre-loaded with portfolio, calculator, and all sales tools. Full material sample kit so you can show, not just tell. The system works. Your job is to trust it, execute it, and get better at it every week.
COMPENSATION
Base:
$600-$800/week (gives you stability while you ramp)
Commission:
4% of every project you close
Same-Day Close Bonus:
Extra 2% on deals closed during the consultation
Top-Tier Bonus:
$100 extra per premium package sold No cap on earnings. Ever .
Realistic range:
$80,000-$120,000+ in your first year. Reps who master the process and close at target consistently earn $150K+. The comp is designed to reward consistency, not just one big month.

You are the first sales hire outside the founder. There are no other reps ahead of you. No one to compete with for leads, territory, or promotions.
Growth path:
Design Consultant → Senior Design Consultant → Sales Manager → Director of Sales We are scaling fast. As we add crews, markets, and revenue, the person in this seat is first in line to build and lead the entire sales team. This is not a promise. It is the plan. If you follow the process, hit your numbers, and develop the skills, the leadership role is yours. If you have ever been stuck at a company with no path up, this is the opposite of that.
REQUIREMENTS
At least 1 year selling landscaping, hardscaping, outdoor living, fencing, decking, or a related exterior/home improvement service. You need to know what it feels like to walk a property with a homeowner. Basic knowledge of landscaping materials and project scoping. You should be able to look at a backyard and see opportunities. Comfortable talking about money. Our projects range from $10K to $50K+. You cannot flinch when presenting investment numbers. Coachable. This is the #1 requirement. You must be willing to follow the script, record your consultations, accept direct feedback weekly, and do the role-play reps. No exceptions. Reliable. You show up on time. You follow through. You do not cut corners when nobody is watching. Professional presence. You are in someone's home representing the company. You dress well, you speak well, and you make people comfortable. Valid driver's license with a clean record. Company vehicle provided. Tech-literate enough to use an iPad, CRM, and basic sales tools. We train you on our systems.

The follow-up is where 30-40% of revenue lives. We have scripts for a reason. We role-play for a reason. We record consultations for a reason. If you think that is beneath you, go somewhere that lets you wing it. That is not here. ⚠ You just want to drop quotes and hope the phone rings. We do not give estimates. We run a structured consultation with 3 design options, material samples, financing, and a real close. If that sounds like too much work, this is not your role. But if you have the foundation, want to get dramatically better, and are willing to put in the work — this is the best opportunity in landscaping sales in the Chicagoland area. And we mean that.
