About Us Material Handling Exchange (MHE) has been a trusted provider of new and used material handling equipment since 1989. Headquartered in Indianapolis, we operate out of a 350,000 sq. ft. facility , with an additional 550,000+ sq. ft. of warehousing/manufacturing located in Franklin, IN. Our centralized footprint and direct-to-customer model allow us to move quickly, serve customers efficiently, and stay competitive in a fast-paced industry. Position Overview We are seeking a motivated, driven individual to join our Acquisitions team as an entry-level Buyer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hunting for opportunities, building relationships, and working in a fast-moving environment . You will play a key role in sourcing and securing inventory by identifying leads, engaging with sellers, and supporting the growth of our product pipeline. This position offers clear growth potential , with the opportunity to increase earnings through performance-based commission tied to profitability as you develop within the role. What You'll Do Identify and pursue acquisition opportunities through outbound calls and lead generation Communicate with prospective sellers and customers to evaluate inventory opportunities Learn MHE's product lines, market pricing, and acquisition strategies Manage and track leads using CRM software Conduct site visits to inspect material and assess value Collaborate with internal teams to support purchasing decisions
Travel:
~10% (primarily local/day trips) What We're Looking For Strong communication skills and confidence on the phone Self-starter with excellent time management and organization Ability to work independently while contributing to a team Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service instincts Comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment Preferred Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Basic math and analytical skills Experience working with CRM systems (or ability to learn quickly) Typing speed of 45+ WPM Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (or 2-3 years of relevant experience) Minimum 2 years of sales, customer service, or related experience Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong work ethic and punctuality
Compensation & Schedule Base Salary:
$45,000 - $55,000+ (based on experience)
Additional Earnings:
Performance-based commission tied directly to acquisition profitability
Schedule:
