Job Description

Holiday Lighting Design & Sales Consultant Carolina Illumination | Fayetteville, Raeford, Hope Mills & Surrounding Areas Seasonal | September-December 2026 Commission-Based | Paid Training | Uncapped Earning Potential We're looking for someone special. Someone who loves people. Someone who walks up to a house and can imagine what it could become at Christmas. Someone who gets genuinely excited about creating experiences and memories for families and businesses. And just as importantly... Someone who LOVES to sell. We're looking for a confident, motivated, personable salesperson to become Carolina Illumination's dedicated Holiday Lighting Design & Sales Consultant for the 2026 Christmas season. This is not an office position where you sit around waiting for the phone to ring. You'll be meeting primarily in person with qualified residential and commercial prospects , walking their properties, learning what they envision, designing their Christmas displays, presenting options and pricing, and asking for the sale. We'll provide the training, systems, existing customer base and incoming leads. You bring the personality, creativity, follow-through and drive to turn those opportunities into sales. What You'll Do You will own the sales process from initial opportunity through signed project.
That includes:
Conducting in-person Christmas lighting design consultations at homes and businesses Building relationships with potential customers Helping customers visualize what their property could look like for Christmas Measuring properties and creating lighting designs Presenting design options and pricing Preparing professional proposals Confidently asking for the sale Following up consistently with open proposals Reconnecting with previous Carolina Illumination customers and prospects Developing new residential and commercial opportunities Maintaining an organized sales pipeline and CRM Working toward—and hopefully blowing past—your seasonal sales goals Our office and operations team handle the installation side. Your job is to create the vision, build the relationship and close the sale. How You Get Paid This is a commission-based sales position with paid training and uncapped earning potential. We specifically designed the compensation structure to reward performance. The more you sell, the higher your commission rate becomes. Seasonal Commission Structure First $50,000 sold — 6% commission $50,001
  • 75,000 — 8% commission $75,001
  • 100,000 — 10% commission $100,001
  • 125,000 — 12% commission Sales above $125,000 — 15% commission Commission tiers are progressive, meaning the higher percentage applies to sales within that tier.
What could that mean for you? Close $50,000 → approximately $3,000 commission Close $75,000 → approximately $5,000 commission Close $100,000 → approximately $7,500 commission Close $125,000 → approximately $10,500 commission Close $150,000 → approximately $14,250 commission And there is no earnings cap. We also want to reward someone who creates opportunities instead of only waiting for leads. If you're the kind of salesperson who sees a $100,000 goal and immediately starts wondering how you can get to $125,000, we want to talk to you. We Will Train You You do not need to be a Christmas-lighting expert. We will provide paid, hands-on training before you begin selling independently. You'll learn: Christmas lighting products and installation basics How to evaluate and measure a property Residential and commercial lighting design Our pricing system How to build and present proposals Our CRM and sales technology The Carolina Illumination sales process Common customer objections How to move a customer from an idea to a booked installation You'll practice designs, participate in role-playing and work alongside us before taking over appointments independently. We can teach Christmas lighting. What is much harder to teach is drive, warmth, confidence, curiosity and the desire to win. Who We're Looking For You may be an excellent fit if you are: Naturally warm and personable Confident meeting new people Motivated by performance-based income Competitive with yourself Creative and visually minded Comfortable talking about money Comfortable asking for the sale Persistent without being pushy Excellent at following up Highly organized and self-directed Comfortable using a tablet, CRM and other technology Able to manage your own appointments and sales pipeline Excited about Christmas and creating memorable experiences Motivated by ambitious sales goals Previous sales experience is strongly preferred, but we care about ability, personality and drive more than having the perfect résumé. This Probably Isn't the Right Position If... You're looking for a guaranteed paycheck regardless of performance. You're uncomfortable with commission-based compensation. You don't like following up. You're afraid to ask someone for the sale. You need someone constantly telling you what to do next. You view "no" as the end of the conversation rather than part of sales. Or you're primarily looking for a job where you can clock in, complete a checklist and clock out. This is a results-driven position. We want the person who gets excited knowing their performance directly affects their paycheck. Why Carolina Illumination? Christmas lights aren't just lights. They're the house kids recognize as they turn onto their street. They're the entrance families take pictures in front of every December. They're the business a child asks their parents to drive past again. They're the backdrop to Christmas parties, family pictures, proposals, traditions and memories. Our customers trust us to create those experiences—and make the entire process easy for them. We're looking for someone who understands that we're selling something bigger than a strand of lights.
