This role is ideal for a sales professional who enjoys developing relationships, identifying opportunities, and helping customers succeed through industry-leading lumber and building material solutions. As a trusted partner to builders, contractors, and construction professionals, you will be responsible for expanding market share, building customer loyalty, and delivering exceptional service throughout the sales process. What You'll Do:
Business Development & Sales Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, permit tracking, and market research. Develop and grow relationships with builders, contractors, remodelers, and other construction professionals. Promote and sell lumber, building materials, and related products to achieve sales and profitability goals. Deliver professional product presentations and recommend solutions that help customers improve project outcomes. Create accurate quotations, bids, and proposals that win business and grow market share. Negotiate and close sales opportunities while maintaining strong customer relationships. Customer Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts. Build long-term partnerships through responsive communication and exceptional service. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Resolve customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, credits, returns, and product issues in a timely and professional manner. Act as a trusted advisor by educating customers on new products, technologies, and industry trends. Industry & Market Knowledge Review blueprints and understand construction project phases to identify sales opportunities and recommend appropriate products. Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of building materials, construction practices, and available product solutions. Experience & Skills Proven success in outside sales, preferably within the lumber, building materials, construction, or related industries. Strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals. Ability to read and understand residential and commercial construction plans and specifications preferred. Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with a strong work ethic. Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through skills. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other business technology tools is preferred. Physical Requirements Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory. Ability to visit active construction sites and customer locations.
