Job Description
Join Blue Oak Dispensary — an elevated, community-minded adult‑use cannabis retailer redefining the customer experience with a curated selection of premium products and an emphasis on education and hospitality. As a Sales Specialist you'll be the on‑floor ambassador: welcoming guests, guiding them through product choices, creating personalized customer journeys, and helping drive sales while maintaining full compliance with state and local regulations. This is a frontline, hourly role on a close‑knit team with real opportunities for career growth in a fast‑evolving industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide warm, informed, and professional customer service that reflects the Blue Oak brand.
- Assess customer needs and recommend products (flower, pre-rolls, vapes, edibles, topicals, tinctures, etc.) based on desired effects, experience level, and consumption method.
- Perform accurate ID verification and follow all age
- and purchase‑limit compliance procedures.
- Operate POS, handle cash and card transactions, process returns/exchanges per policy, and maintain accurate sales records.
- Maintain product knowledge through ongoing training and help merchandise and restock the sales floor to keep displays elevated and accessible.
- Support inventory accuracy by assisting with daily counts and reporting discrepancies.
- Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming retail environment; participate in team meetings and contribute to continual improvement. Salary $18

- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have experience in cannabis retail, preferably in the NJ market.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills; ability to explain product effects and dosing clearly and professionally.
- Solid basic math skills and accuracy handling cash and transactions.
- Comfortable using point‑of‑sale systems and basic computer tools (email, scheduling software).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to ~50 lbs, and perform repetitive stocking/merchandising tasks.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn state and local cannabis regulations; able to pass required background checks and comply with licensing requirements.
- Team player with a customer-first attitude and strong attention to detail. Desired Skills
- Prior cannabis dispensary experience a must. Ideal if also has formal cannabis education/certification.
- Familiarity with seed‑to‑sale/track‑and‑trace systems (e.g., METRC) and inventory workflows.
- Experience upselling, cross‑selling, and meeting sales goals.
- Bilingual skills to better serve a diverse customer base.
- Interest or background in health, wellness, or plant medicine.
- Experience with visual merchandising and creating elevated retail displays.
- CRM or customer loyalty program experience and follow‑up skills for building repeat customers.
